There was an exhibition game played in Winnemucca, Nevada last night between Reno a Kings affiliate and the Stampede a Blazers affiliate. Here is a blurb on the game. "Pierre Jackson, Idaho's first-round pick in this year's NBA Development League Draft, showed Tuesday that he's a player to watch as he scored 26 points in a little more than 23 minutes. The Baylor product went 13-for-13 from the free throw line. EJ Singler, out of Oregon, went 4-for-5 from 3-point range and finished with 18 points.

As for Friday's regular-season opener, forward Dallas Lauderdale might be the most excited player to get the season underway. He missed all of last season while he rehabbed a foot injury.

“After sitting out all of last year with that injury, he's ready to go,” Peck said. “He doesn't want to miss another minute, whether it's practice or a game.”

Lauderdale got into foul trouble early Tuesday night and finished with five fouls, two rebounds and one point in 14 minutes. But a healthy Lauderdale could be a big plus for the Stampede, who started the season on a six-game losing streak last year as they struggled inside. The 6-foot-8 Lauderdale is No. 3 on Ohio State's list of career shot blockers. His wingspan is 7 feet, 6 inches."

“He's a mobile big. He can get up the floor,” Peck said. “People say, 'Ah, he's 6-8.' But you know what? With that wingspan, he's like a 7-footer, and he moves way better than any 7-footer that I've ever seen.”

I'm sure Harris is a nice fellow but is pretty much a waste of space and far as being an NBA player.

The first DLeague weekend is in the books. The leading scorer and rebounder in that league is former SDSU player Malcom Thomas with Pierre Jackson 2nd in scoring. The 2nd leading rebounder is Jarvis Vernardo and the leading assist guys are Seth Curry and Dee Bost. Perhaps there is help for the Tankers from this list.

Aquille Carr is in the D-League too. If you don't know that name, look him up on Youtube. He could provide plenty of entertainment all the while ensuring the tank.

In the DLeague game last night Bakersfield (which is the Jazz farm club this year) played Rio Grande Valley. Brian Butch had 32 points, 18 rebounds and 2 blocks for Bakersfield. He was in the Jazz training camp in 2012 and played on Alex Jensen's DLeague team in Summer League that finished well. For RGV Troy Daniels ex VCU 2 guard and in the Pacers camp had 29 points. If Big Turkey remains problematical for awhile Butch might make a servicable big until Big Turkey is ready to rock and roll. Daniels sounds like he can shoot which the Jazz could use.

Pierre Jackson >>>>> Lucas

But he would get abused by people on defense just like Lucas. They are the same size

Pierre is taller than Nate Robinson, Spud Webb or Mugsey Bogues though.

True, but Nate Robinson is a freak, and those other guys played in an era where it was probably easier to hide bad defenders. Pierre would be better than Lucas though

I guess forget about bringing in a DLeague Big as Beans practiced today and is hopeful to play Friday. I had forgotten about him and he would probably be more productive than Vernardo or Butch.

There was an article in yesterday's paper that Jackson is still Pelicans property. He was drafted, played summer league with them, signed a contract with a European team and left after not playing and submitted himself to the DLeague draft. Evidently the signing with the European team allows New Orleans to keep his rights even though he is playing in a NBA farm league and he is hoping for a callup by New Orleans even though they have 15 players on their roster. I'm shaking my head on how they can still hold onto his rights. It seems like they should be forced to waive him or keep him since he is playing in the US.
