You can't build the rule just to address the exceptions. They're will always be people that buck the trend. But if you build a cap that, let's say, gives the top 1 guy in any team 30 Mill, the next 20 Mill, and divvies out the rest you will have fewer superstars willing to take 3rd place money. But when each of the top 3 guys can make 22, 28, and 34, and they know they only have to give up a bit to get the superteam together, well then we might as well set up a Sr. NBA league with 6 teams and a Jr. NBA league to feed it.

The problem is when it does happen it will be even stronger than it is now.
 
AD went on the record at the all-star game and said "all 29 teams are open market" for landing him... but we all know, that doesn't mean he'll sign an extension unless it's the Lakers.

NBA ratings continue to plummet....All Star game ratings slightly down, dunk contest night with equal ratings of the MLB home run derby *sips tea......but some fools will say it doesn’t matter. Guess what? It does. The Warriors dominance/super team dominance—only fun for so long. The NBA has been covered 10X more with all is stupid *** drama and has been beat out in the last couple weeks by a Duke game and the NFLs G-League in ratings. For all the talk of how the NFLs ratings have struggled, they still blow away the NBA with a fraction of media attention and headlines. When you ignore most of your league and a few select markets are all that matter in your league, when their ratings are down you’re in a bad spot. Start paying attention to/caring about the other 25 fan bases in your league and maybe you can generate more interest in your teams and your league.

Great post.

The NBA needs to figure out this power struggle by making it harder for stars to unite. Also, this traveling garbage makes the NBA a joke to the average fan.

For that kind of crap they should add a ref off the court checking replays and correcting calls. The replays come plenty fast enough to at least see enough to say, hey that looks weird, then call for a review. Not looking for every nitpicking thing but for egregious missed calls like that. Would help a lot imo, or give coaches 2 challenges per half or something. So QS could have challenged the travel by harden for example. But yes that kind of **** has been getting worse imo. I'd love to see some stats on travels called in the past 5 years compared to 20 years ago.
