What's new

Do believe the hype. Wiggens will beast.

I've only watched one Wiggins game and he looked plenty overrated to me. I have a pretty good eye for talent and solid track record on here, so he's most likely being overrated.

ION, Bron's "poster" last night was junk science. Don't watch it or talk about it for ESPN please.

Burks?!?!

you haven't seen Wiggins play a full game have you.

of course i did. 5 times this season, and plenty of highlights. season is too early, so i have plenty more chance to dissect his game. right now he is very similar to what tmac was before tmac took off. similar to paul george before he took off. both tmac and george showed you glimpse of greatness, but couldn't put it all together yet. both worked hard and they both took that huge jump in overall skills and confidence. both turned into a lead dog who would demand the ball.

if wiggins is that great of a talent then he will become like one of those two down the road. it took tmac several years. george too.

but again picking wiggins over jabari is a big risk. can we be patient with wiggins? i think we probably can. but by the time he turns into a beast, can he stay with us? not sure.

i like the kid, but i don't love love him like i do with jabari.

This...

And I'm asking the entire board.

please elaborate.

i see a striking similarity - both young tmac and george. but again tmac took that massive jump. i honestly had no idea tmac was that kinda of playmaker and scorer. that kind of huge jump is not common. george too. george progression is almost tmac like. but george will never have tmac's handle and point forward ability. but george is a better defender.

I have seen several partial games for Wiggins.

Wiggins is all but unstoppable on the break. He goes 1 on 3 and scores consistently.

In the half court he does make some plays but he lacks strength to deal with all bumping in the paint.

Defensively he needs to work on his fundamentals and awareness.

It is way to early to say much about him. He should be a much improved player in March.

I dont think Kansas is using him right either. They post him up too much.

Use him right? It's like they don't even use him at all. In yesterday's game, I really don't know what more you could ask of him when he only touches the ball every other possession, and when he DOES finally get the ball it's out at the 3 point line against a zone designed to stop penetration.

To me Wiggins is better suited for the nba, it's a faster paced game and not nearly as half court oriented as the NCAA.

I don't know about the PG comp, but I seem to recall PG being accused of playing passively and not playing with intensity or something like that. Just an observation. Some players are just better made for the nba, and think this could be Wiggins biggest thing.

Edit: Talking about PG in NCAA.

I agree

Some people are upset about Kansas not using Wiggins or not using him correctly or whatever. Tbh, he's just not that good in a half-court setting at this point. Plus, Wiggins will have much more room to operate in the NBA than he does on this current Kansas team that is not very good at shooting

The NBA game definitely allows physically gifted players to showcase those abilities more than the college game does. I predict Wiggins will be a better pro than college player from day one.

i sorta agree. spacing is tougher in college. i know NCAA got softer this year, but traditionally college D is much tougher too. and teams D up more because of short season. and 35 clock just slows down the game too much.

in nba spacing is open and it's a long season, so teams play with certain pace. they don't go all out especially first half the season.

having said all that, wiggins still won't be that guy till 3rd or 4th year. still has ton of growing to do. but i can see 17/5 kinda production in year 1.

Pretty good assessment.

Out of curiosity, what kind of stats do you expect from Parker his rookie year?

IMO parker puts up 20/6/3 46-47%fg per 36.

and i see a major statistical jump in year 2. dude is just too polished not to make that jump in year 2. i will be disappointed if he doesn't avg 25 by 2nd year.
