Do the Jazz abandon "the process" this summer?

This. We have a very young team, we have several athletic players, and yet we play at a similar pace to the late '90s Jazz.

I mean, how ridiculous was it for the Jazz to be playing the Mavs with the whole season on the line and trying to slow the pace down against a team whose starters' average age is 32.5?

Philly has made progress in asset collection for sure. They had zero things to start with... Had mortgaged part of their future for Bynum which wasn't good.

That said they were completely flawed in trying to build a team. Can't keep drafting centers or limited front court players because they are the best players on the board. Can't ignore free agency and can't ignore the fact that players are people not robots. This isn't a mathematical equation... You need the right personalities and right leaders.

No I completely disagree, Philly's rebuild is going swimmingly, they've got what 35million coming off the books??

Who are they going to sign with that money? What free agents, in a market with so much cap space and money, will bend over backwards to sign with Philly?

They'll definitely bring back McConnell, Covington, Stauskas, Grant.. It's said Saric will come over for next season, they can completely reshape their team, and they've still got a trove of draft picks moving forward..

Those 4 players listed are all utter garbage. Hence Philly going 10-72 and starting the season 1-30. Being a 2-year starter on this Sixers team is in no way indication of any quality. Hell, it's not even indication that you're capable of being a roster player on any other NBA team. Saric is a PF, so the question becomes how you're going to accommodate him, Okafor, Noel and Embiid if he's healthy. Never mind that we know nothing of Saric's ability to contribute on the NBA level. Or Embiid's, for that matter.

Our "process" was always a bit flawed on the fringes. When we needed to go super young and lose more games we stuck with vets and playing Al and others too much. Last year when we were moving up and had seen some of the team needs we didn't acquire some vets to help. Seems small but that stuff needs to go right to build a contender.

I do think this team can be really good and we've done some good things but we haven't had the lucky lotto balls or made the big trade or FA acquisition that jump starts us. We've nailed the late first round picks which is really positive.

As far as giving up the process... We will acquire a free agent or vet through trade because we almost have to... We have to spend a lot to get to the floor. I don't see that as abandoning the process. I also think we don't do an about face and make a bunch of win now moves.

That's funny. I've always said that if you watch me in open gym you'd think I played college ball. I make 70-80% on NBA threes shooting by myself. There is just a little difference when games start.

Most NBA players can make open shots without somebody guarding them. Hell, Shaq was a good FT shooter in practices. None of that matters til the game starts.

Wow?!?! More then a little puzzled by this. In the scenario that we sign him to a max deal, do u have him starting or coming off the bench? Who does he start over, or u really want the Jazz to pay max money to a bench player?

I'd rather not spent huge money till I see how Exum plays this coming year.

I agree that Exum is the key in this whole process but if a good deal comes up this offseason you pull the trigger.

I'm quite alright with getting someone instead of Mack as well. Mack wont get it done against he elite teams.
He is not the answer.

I think mack is a solid back up and would add a steady influence to the second unit.

Have you seen Embiid's pregame shoot arounds from this season?? That dude is going to be a major factor if he can stay injury free and I've read all the minutiae about his foot I think he'll be fine.

In addition they have a great chance at 2 top 5 picks in this draft.

He made mistakes for sure... Don't feel bad for him. He was a smug ******* and wouldn't talk to the media. He also needed to do something in free agency and really overlooked that.

That said... He did well in trades and gave them a ton of prospects. Should have built more of a team and cared a little about public perception. He's a good assistant to the GM but not sure if want him running the show

I would add Mack in that list too, he doesn't have a high ceiling.

I would rely on Neto as a backup point guard if they don't plan to take a veteran pg. Neto showed good things in his rookie season, I think he has still room for improvement.

So let me as you this, do the Jazz abandon the process, or do can they add talent while abiding by the process?

I live in Philly and the "process" in Philly is very different from Utah. Hinkie's problems were not how he accumulated assets, they were more communication with colleagues, agents, fans. They are going to be very good in 3+ years due to incoming talent. It will be a Minnesota-Philly world in 2019. Hope the Jazz are there with them.
