What's new

Do the Jazz have it in them to tank the 2013-4 season and go for Wiggins?

I think the year the Jazz finished with the 4th worst record in the league and ended up drafting Deron Williams (by trading with Portland) was basically a tank job. We since parlayed that one lottery pick into Kanter, Favors, Marvin and this year's #21 pick. That's half a rebuild right there.

O'Connor all but admitted that they tried to tank the year before that, but Jerry coached the team to a 42-40 record and cost them a top 5 draft pick in a great draft.

Stern won't give us Wiggins. Jabari maybe, but not Wiggins.

I would be 110% fine with getting Jabari Parker. We would have one of the best teams in the league, and the mormon sports story of a lifetime. There would not be a game for his entire career that would not be sold out.

It seems like a win/win (other than maybe actual wins) to just do a whole youth movement thing next season. Either the youth are damn good and the Jazz don't get a top pick, in which case there is solid hope for the future if a few pieces can fall the Jazz's way, or they totally suck and the Jazz know what and what they don't have and get a top pick, or maybe the best of both worlds, they are promising but lose a lot because they need more seasoning and the Jazz end up with a top pick anyway.

My personal opinion is I don't they that the C4 and a competent PG suck enough to be one of the worse teams in the league. But who knows, maybe I'm overrating them.

It's not a win/win if Greggy boy doesn't think we'll sell enough tickets to be profitable. That's what it comes down to IMO, commercial reality.

So, I hear about 2014 being so awesome for Free agents. Who could the Jazz really sign? Dirk? Kobe? James? Wade ? Bosh? Pierce? Humphreys? Deng? Miles? Carter? Stucky? Bogut? Granger? Gasol? Gortat? Lowery? Rfa monroe, bledsoe, vasquez, turner, hayward, favors cousins?

My best guess, big offers to Rfa? Maybe bogut? Or maybe go after Josh Smith, he has got to ne a little better on D then Millsap/Jefferson? Smith, favors, kanter would be a pretty fun big man rotation.

I have to think that Lindsey is smart enough to realize that if ever the Jazz were going to take a step back, that this next season would be the time to do it.

We talking about that guy who's going to KU, the University of Kansas, located in Lawrence, Kansas?

Maybe if we resign the vets we will be able to lose more games. What do you think?

Ink Jeff, Sap, and whatever vets we can for one year deals? Wouldn't that be awesome?

The other option is to not sign any free agents, sign a bunch of free agent rookies or d leaguers for our bench and see who Corbin plays.

Do you think he would ever put 4 guys on the floor and say nobody else is ready yet?

He would put four guys + whoever could grow a tiny mustache.

I don't have the time to look up all the teams with money in 2014, but with players signed named Hayward, Favors and Kanter, and 30+ million to spend, they may have to overpay for someone, but they could get a lot of those players to sign in Utah.

Tanking doesn't mean you get the #1 pick.
You guys were talking about a wasted season, we'd be possibly wasting another one if we tanked.

The nerve of you peoples. We got Hayward, Kanter, Favors and Burks... and instead of seeing these guys in their 1st year with real minutes succeed and prevail you want to tank.

TF?!

*Teams better than Jazz next year!!

Atlanta Hawks
Boston Celtics
Chicago Bulls
Dallas Mavericks
Denver Nuggets
Golden State Warriors
Houston Rockets
Indiana Pacers
Los Angeles Clippers
Los Angeles Lakers
Memphis Grizzlies
Miami Heat
Milwaukee Bucks
Minnesota Timberwolves
New Jersey Nets
New York Knicks
Oklahoma City Thunder
Portland Trail Blazers
San Antonio Spurs
Toronto Raptors

*Toss Ups!!

Washington Wizards- looked real good with a healthy J.Wall
New Orleans Hornets- depends on what they get for Eric Gordon
Detroit Pistons
Cleveland Cavaliers
Philadelphia 76ers

*Teams Worst than Jazz next Year!!

Charlotte Bobcats
Orlando Magic
Phoenix Suns
Sacramento Kings

So that puts the Jazz between 5th-10th worst team in the NBA!!

This gives the Jazz a decent chance to move up into the top 3.

But if we don't make it into the top 3 I believe it does put us In a great position to pick up Marcus Smart as our PG of the future!!!

I have serious doubts about the Raptors, Pistons, Cavs, Sixers being better than the Jazz.
The Jazz will be better than that... even if it ruins their shot at getting a difference maker in the draft.

Add Dallas, Portland and Minnesota to that list. They have a lot to prove. The Lakers are also still a hot mess. Nash will be 40 and Kobe's out.

Besides, you realize that by getting rid of our vets from last year the team actually gets better, right?
