What's new

Do you think O'Connor will pursue Jason Terry?

Do you think KOC will pursue Jason Terry this offseason? Terry signed an offer sheet with the Jazz in 2003, and he is a "veteran" with "championship experience".

Jason Terry reportedly wants a multi-year contract, and it appears that the Mavericks seem to be hesitant on giving him what he wants.

I'm not in love with the idea of signing an undersized shooting guard, however, Terry can shoot the 3 and gives us another scorer.

I wouldn't be surprised to see the Jazz pursue Terry again.

I like Terry .. but SG isn't a top priority.

We could always convert him to a point guard! I do it all the time in NBA 2k12!

On a serious note, it makes a lot of sense for the Jazz to get a point guard and a small forward while dumping one of our bigs. However, when was the last time a Jazz off-season went the way we all thought it should?

I can see O'Connor going after a vet this off-season. Failing, and then standing pat.

I would love Terry. I'm just not sure how much I pay him if we're keeping Burks and Hayward ..

The last time he tried to add a vet to this young team it went terribly wrong. (Good afternoon, Mr Bell) I still doubt they'd go after Terry though.

3 year for the full mid-level? Would that be enough or not enough for Terry? Burks would still be on his rookie contract throughout that contract. When does Hayward's contract run up? How much do you think it'll take to keep Hayward?

Bell went horribly wrong because he is in denial that he no longer has "it".

I think Terry will still be serviceable for one more contract. I also think Terry wouldn't mind the sixth man role which Bell does.

I think would if Terry was a little older and more washed up.

Also it doesnt make sense unless we have a rookie we need to make sit the bench behind Terry.

since when is SG not a top priority? right now our depth chart at SG is bell and burks, with a little hayward mixed in for big lineups. not saying terry is the guy, but adding a high-quality wing is probably the second best thing the jazz can do this off-season.

For me, personally (with all my flaws), I rank position priority as follows;

1 - SF
2 - PG
3 - SG
4 - C
5 - PF

Obviously we need shooters (at all positions) and prefer a true/pure PG, if possible. So I guess it's how one defines 'top priority.'

SF? have you heard of a guy named gordon hayward? or for that matter paul millsap?

but i guess it's toMAYto/toMAHto because there's very little difference between SG and SF in the jazz's offensive and defensive systems. so really we're saying the same thing... add one high-quality wing and start the clock on some young point guard's development and i think it's been a good offseason.

if accomplishing those two things means using al jefferson as bait, even better.

I suggest we are saying very similar things. For the most part, I see a PG, a center, and 3 wings with varying and somewhat interchangeable tasks.

If I were to be more transparent, I want;

- a pure PG (or a serviceable combo that's an elite shooter)
- better shooters (2, at least)
- lose Al

Jazz absolutely needs some veteran perimeter players who know how to score and Terry's name is fair enough for it. I disagree that he is washed up but the price and contract's length is gotta fit well and he is gotta accept the minutes and role given to him. The main matter thing is if or can Corbin handle the situation well enough? Raja Bell says nope.

yeah, that's basically my list. and it's not that i'm THAT concerned about PG in the short term. i think devin is an above average (though certainly not elite) PG and is fine for the short-term, but if i had my way i'd add a young guy who can ultimately take over the reins, and let him start learning from a backup role.

where those first two bullets are concerned, we could certainly do worse than jason terry, but the guy will be 35 before the season starts.

When Raja signed we had Deron and we were a "contender". If the Jet were to sign with us, he would understand our current situation and his "role". I would imagine he would be our "sixth man who closes games". I think Corbin was unjustly blasted by Raja. Raja is in denial that he no longer can play in the league at a high level

The real question is... if Terry loses his sweatband will he also lose his mojo.

Jason Terry can play back-up PG for sure. I would love him if our team was 3 years further along in their development.

The cocky players do not change their characters. Sure he is gonna be 6th man for us but you gotta regard the chemistry issues both on the court and off the court, the minutes given, the shot attempts and selfishness level. Will he complain when his name not being called or not getting enough touches? The coach gotta show himself at these situations a la Phil Jackson. Sometimes he uses even more ball than Dirk so not easy to handle.
