Does Cuban Have a Point?

It's always been boring. That has little to do with its popularity, as there must be deeper social/economic/historical issues. If popularity of sports depended on excitement, demolition derbies would be number one.

Please never stop posting.

Here we have a bunch of butt hurt Utahns who are mad that we don't have an NFL team. The NFL is the undisputed GOAT.

It's called gambling, 1 game a week and fantasy football.

What I took away from Cuban is that I can either watch 2 games on Sunday and one on Monday, a total three games per week while missing the rest, or, I can watch two games on Sunday, one on Monday, and the option to not watch the rest on Thursday and Saturday. My opportunity to watch more games but choosing not to will be the end of the NFL. Dumb.

I think Cuban's a little jealous that they won't let him own an NFL or MLB team, and that the NFL is hacking into his Thursday night TV revenue all the way through December.

The NFL will decrease in popularity if they continue to make rules where you can't hit players, which they almost have to make because of player safety. The sport has become more boring, but I don't think it's because they have too many games.

That, the fact that my team has sucked for years, and the fact that the NFL seems to be getting into political issues these days are helping me dust off the last remnants of any NFL fandom I've had. I don't want a watered down game or a watered down focus on that game.

1-Football probably isn't a sport that you should start playing when you 12-13 and continue to play until your 30.

2-College football is an increasingly entertaining and professional product.

3-I do think many cities and their fans are becoming more and more resentful of the whole build us a stadium or we are moving to L.A. bs.

4-Blackouts. A lot of people are still having a tough time and because they don't have a couple hundred bucks to take their kids to a game the league blacks it out.

You only have to look at what happened to baseball to understand why you should not make your fans feel disenfranchised. The NFL will always be around but I think Cuban is right that it's popularity is going to decline.

I tend to agree with Cuban. The NFL is getting greedy. Not sure how much it will hurt their popularity, but I think it will hurt its players by trying to expand the schedule and add in all these weird dates that will give teams more games with shorter rest periods in-between.

I personally HATE Thursday Night Football.

So now that it's established that Cuban gives a **** about greed, perhaps he can rally against the NBA's idiotic idea of putting ads on the jerseys.

Oh wait, he's for it. Oh he's all for being a greedy **** when his pockets are being lined, as he ruins the traditions of the NBA. So to boil it down in general, **** him.

And the NFL will not implode because of this. Here's how dominant the NFL is in this country. A meaningless awful who gives a **** preseason game with the 9ers and Vikings last year did a 4.7 rating. A Warriors/Spurs playoff game last season did a 3.4 rating. Yes, more people give a **** about meaningless football games than NBA playoff games in this country.

Fantasy football is one of the things that is also propping up NFL games. People watch games to see how their players did, they don't actually care about the sport. If fantasy football were to go away, the NFL would lose a ton of viewers.

That must explain the huge ratings in the playoffs when fantasy football is pretty much over.

I'm not sure many of you grasp how dominant the NFL is in this country. Hell Superbowl Sunday has become a defacto holiday. A regional NFC Championship this season had a 28.5 rating. Not really anything but football games gets those sort of ratings anymore. The NBA would kill for half those ratings in the Finals.

I agree with the general idea that having a game every day is stupid and dilutes the product, but the only thing propping up the NFL is its massive, massive popularity.

No kidding. Out of the 10 most watched things in the US in 2013, 9 belonged to the NFL (the top 4 were all Superbowl related). Only the Oscars (aka the gay Superbowl) cracked the top 10.
