What's new

Does the Jazz FO have a "WIN NOW" mentality for the upcoming season?

SA plan: Tank and hopefully get the #1 pick and it worked and it ended up being one of most dominant players of the era. Utah and SA are totally different things. Utah has a tougher time attracting free agents than SA. Texas is warm, no dominant religion issue, it's not 90% white, no state income tax, Duncan. I think fans expectations are a little spoiled. The Jazz have been very good for a long time and with a lot of the odds stacked against them.

I understand the differences between San Antonio and Utah. But each small market has it's own cross to bear i don't think our front office should be given a free pass because we have a state full of Mormons.

I think you are misguided if you think fans give them a free pass. Who is giving them a free pass?

I think that the plan is to win as much as possible every year without sacrificing too many future wins, while spending as little as possible. It sounds like a lame line that the FO would use publicly, but after hearing Rigby on the radio the other day, it would not surprise me if this was their plan.

What KOC and them don't seem to understand is that when the Jazz fail to win a championship it makes ME look bad. I can't stand that. It makes me wanna stamp my feetz, scream at the top of my lungs, and cry a river. It makes me wanna do it so bad, that I does it 24/7, actually.

I think you're pretty close, but you need to add something about having players with good character who make contributions to the community.

Listen to the Hayward press confreence for the many refrences the Jazz make to the kind of person he is.

My original post (that you responded to) was a response to Mfree. In my opinion his post was in essense "give the FO a pass cuz we are small market and we are pretty good".

I don't think most fans give them a free pass and are satisfied with them not winning it all. However I don't think they are dissatisfied to the point of not coming to games or watching them play (maybe a very small %).

I don't think most Jazz fan give the Jazz FO a "free pass" on criticism. I think Jazz fans want a title as much as anyone else. I don't think the majority of Jazz fans are so dissatisfied with the Jazz that they have given up and stopped watching or following.

I don't think I ever mentioned that fans have given up or stopped watching due to not winning championships. I don't think there is a way to quantify that statement nor do I care. My original post was a responce to Mfree, his post stated "They tried to trade up, but cost of doing so was so high it would have crippled them in the future. I suspect had they done so at that cost, you would have ridiculed them for their foolishness and branded them the worst FO in the NBA..I think some on here need to grow up a little bit. The outrage at how the Jazz are managed is misplaced My response is that the front office has sat on its hands long enough.

My response is that they are smart enough to generally avoid making stupid moves just so the fans will know they are doing something.

I don't believe they are sitting on their hands. Many teams make lots of moves trying to catch" lightning in a bottle" so to speak. The Jazz also look to catch lightning in a bottle, and do so from time to time (Millsap, Matthews). They have not found enough lightning to win a championship, but they are closer year in and year out than most of the teams that go through a shake-up most every year.

I think the jazz FO really do want to win and get to the playoffs.
but let's face it we don't have a championship mentality like other teams.
