Milsap and mathews were hardly lightening in a bottle. They were very low risk moves that turned out well. lightening in a bottle is good team making a move and becoming a great team ie: Detroit-Rasheed, Celtics-Garnett and Allen, Lakers-Gasol and this year it looks like several teams have the opportunity to make some big moves to help themselves.

I know one of my main problems with the FO is their secretiveness. If they were more open about trades they tried to do and etc at least I would know they were trying. The secretiveness makes me wonder how much they really do try to improve.

Problem is I don't think they are secretive - they just aren't doing much. Really i mean in today's world there are few secrets, if a team calls on a player it is reported almost instantly yet you rarely hear the the Jazz involved in these unless it is about our players leaving.
I'd be content if we had some real plan.
As long as we are headed in the right direction I can accept a few bumps in the road.
The problem with the last few years is that we have no clear direction.
They say one thing, and do another. Drafting Hayward should put someone's job at risk.
If he doesn't pan out like I believe most think he will, KOC and Sloan need to get the boot.
If by some miracle they see something we don't, and he becomes really good then we'll eat crow.

The Jazz have done a great job year in and year out of being what a small market team has to be to survive. Not over spend. Try to build from with in and the Draft and hope that what you have put in place pans out. The Jazz felt they had a good core with Stockton and Malone. It took them a lot of years to finally be good enough to complete for a championship and that was with a lot of little tweeks along the way. Nothing huge. I think the Jazz felt they had a good core with Williams and Boozer. But Boozer shot that down with his injuries and lack of desire to play defense. So now the Jazz need to start over and try to build from a core. If that is Williams and Millsap with others we'll see.
The point is the Jazz do have a plan. It is to try to build a team from who they have and are able to pick. (mostly because it is hard to get FA's). On this last core group they struck out because of Boozer I think. But to call the FO incompetent with no plan is wrong. We just are going to have to wait until the plan comes together. (which is what none of us want to do, we what that championship now.)

The Lakers had, by over $5 million, the highest payroll in the league this year: $91.4 million and paid about $34 million in luxury tax alone. In other words, an additional $68 million in "payroll" which, in itself, is more than the salary cap for an entire team ($57.7 million). I wonder which whining fan wants to give the Jazz $68 million so they can try to beat the Lakers "this year," eh?
