This season was the most relevant they have been in a decade at least. That's not my opinion btw. It's just factual.
Well in a year that you thought was totally irrelevant you knew all about what happened. The reason why you knew everything about a team and season you cared nothing about? Because they were getting covered by the media, locally and nationally, more that they have in a decade. How can that be? All I saw was a bunch of no-name teams, that stepped in because nobody else would, and we beat them. Well, most of them. We did lose to that one Jr. High team.
I drink the punch more than most, but not even I can choke this hogwash down.
You couldn’t be more wrong. If you held a gun to my head and said the only way to live was to name three starting players for BYU, I’d be dead. I didn’t watch a single minute of a single game. The only reason I know what little bit I do is because of Facebook and/or obnoxious Utah fans telling me about BYU’s laughable loss and/or how their wins and/or attention they’re getting is worthless. I rarely agree with Utah fans, on anything, ever, but this season was an exception.Well in a year that you thought was totally irrelevant you knew all about what happened. Byu had the #2 play of the year in bleacher reports top 10 plays list and also had the game of the year (their loss to coastal carolina)You couldn’t be more wrong. But they only got all those great things because everyone else didn’t show up. I have a hard time caring about fake awards and participation ribbons. I’m surprised you’re so giddy about it.Byu had the #2 play of the year in bleacher reports top 10 plays list and also had the game of the year (their loss to coastal carolina)
I agree that you didnt care but it was the most relevant season to most people in over decade.
More awards, more players will be drafted, highest ranking, most national publicity, most wins, highest rankings in all three phases of the game.
Again, I agree that you didn't care.

Dammit, I don’t like this agreeable version of you. Can’t you just tell me to suck two dicks and then go fishing with me? I see they’re slaying them thru the ice up at the Berry. @franklin owes me a trip, and I owe @Gameface a trip, so let’s get something on the books. What say you?I agree that you don't care. I also agree that you are surprised that I enjoyed the season.

Great players are great, regardless of the competition. Brady Christensen would still be an All American if they played a tougher schedule. Zach Wilson would still be a first round draft pick playing their original schedule. But they only got all those great things because everyone else didn’t show up. Agree to disagree. My ward ball team was easily the best in the world, and my numbers this season were career highs. We hit Region and guess what, not only was I exposed as a fat waste of skin, but our team crumbled under real competition.Great players are great, regardless of the competition. Of course, I’m lying about the ward ball scenario, as I’ve never actually lost a ward ball game, but you get the idea. Anyone can shine when you’re playing against a Jr. Jazz team every week.
Off topic, why isn’t anyone taking me up on this ice fishing idea? I guess I’ll make a separate thread.
Are we really at the point where Zach Wilson is getting compared to Jerry Rice, Steve Young, and John Stockton before he’s played in a single professional game?So Jerry Rice isn’t a great wide receiver because he played at Mississippi Valley State? John Stockton isn’t great because he played at Gonzaga, before they were good? Karl Malone isn’t great because he played at Louisiana Tech? Steve Young wasn’t great because he played against WAC opponents?

Good post. I think what he was trying to say though is that just because completion sucks doesn't mean the team and players who played that competition also suck. They certainly might end up sucking but it isn't fact at this point like trout was trying to make it seem. Are we really at the point where Zach Wilson is getting compared to Jerry Rice, Steve Young, and John Stockton before he’s played in a single professional game?
Also, remember that your argument swings both ways. For every Jerry Rice or Steve Young, there’s literally thousands of players that dominated lower level competition only to flame out at the NFL level.
Agreed. I just haven’t mixed it up in a BYU-Utah conversation in a really long time. Maybe seeing Trout active on the board stirred up some old feelings I haven’t felt in a while.Good post. I think we can agree on that.

Only 1 team in the nation finished in the top 10 in scoring offense and scoring defense this season. Thats right. BYU. (Special teams were top 10 as well.)
Of course the competition they played helped achieve that however there were many other teams with weak schedules as well. Why didn't any MWC teams, or sunbelt teams, or AAC teams, or big sky teams, or conference usa teams, etc etc etc finish in the top 10 in both categories? Since it only takes a weak schedule to put up amazing numbers then every team in all of those conferences should also be tops in the nation in most categories like BYU was right?
Maybe, just maybe BYU had a pretty damn good football team last season.
Bro.
The only game that matters is the Utah game, at least as far as I’m concerned. As for all that statistical nonsense you posted about all Americans, etc... Girl, please. That’s like pulling the 1984 card (which I happily do whenever a Utah fan gets upity). This year was one giant asterisk. It doesn’t count. It shouldn’t count. 2nd overall pick? Haha, I wish I cared enough about the NFL to talk smack to the poor team that wastes THAT pick.
I love you though. For real.
