Donovan refuses to say whether or not he wants to be in Utah moving forward

Donovan is a smart dude. I doubt he wants to go the Knicks now. Why would he? They are awful and he's smart enough to know that if they trade for him, they will be giving up a lot of assets and be even more awful.

It's in Don's best interest to stay in Utah until his contract is over, or until he's on the final year of his deal and he can dictate where he goes completely and the team that gets him has to pay a smaller price.
But I would like to trade him to the Knicks, rob all their assets, and leave him to rot there with Dolan.

Whether or not you think the Conley trade was good/ok/bad/terrible, to act like it was the thing that "Ruined" the Mitchell'Gobert era is completely asinine. When you have the critical thinking skills of an inbred backwoods Alabamian I dont expect much different tho.
Lol resulting to insults.

Without Conley, we would have been a first round exit team.

With Conley, we were a first round exit team.

Conley ruined the potential of Don/Rudy era because he sapped us of every resource.

I didnt direct that comment at anyone but if you think it was meant for you then maybe....

The Jazz were really in a no win situation unless they get a ring. If they don't trade for Conley they are slammed for not making big moves to get good players around DM and RG and going status quo. They do make a big move and spend money and still are able to get some pretty good players to be in the core, and it doesn't work in a few years... and get slammed for bogging down the team with a Conley's huge salary. It's a no win situation... unless they win it all.

I'm convinced that they had enough talent to win it all at least once, but blew it. I'd put blame from the front office down to the 12th man. They didn't work together. They got hurt feelings. They didn't communicate well. They lost some professionalism somewhere along the way. The wedges that got between people hurt communication and probably made it so future communications were seen in a bad light even if they weren't intended that way. I'm pretty sure we've all seen a friendship go sour over something... well this is it in private and it spilled over into their work and into public settings.

I'm not going to blame anyone. I'll blame the situation, and then I'll blame everyone. I'm sure there were a few innocents in the middle of it all. It probably held together as long as it did because of Ingles, then when he was shipped away it all blew up.

We miss you Joe. You are awesome!

The only people that have a chance of knowing how to go forward from here is an insider that actually knows which relationships are fractured and start splitting and moving whether it be coaches, FO people, or players. Time to trim the tree.

That was my biggest issue with Conley. He was aging and on a too big of contract. I didn't think he would be this bad, but was super worried about him in a backcourt with Donovan in the modern NBA where teams want size at every position to allow for effective switches. We gave up too much in assets for a large contract.

Royce just exacerbates that issue. It is like Willow, Burglecutt and Megosh against a team of daikini warriors every night.

Getting backcourt players from Willy Wonka's Chocolate Factory is probably not the best idea.

Just total malpractice in this reporting by the SLC media during that exchange. I respect guys like Andy and Eric, even if Eric forced me to unfollow him on twitter for some damn reason (that's a thing, you can remove someone from following you, even though they can see and interact with your tweets).

But the lack of added context, especially after Mitchell said he wanted to come back, is just awful optics. Adding the first response makes the second far more understandable due to having already answering the question. But only reporting that second answer fuels needless, baseless speculation that makes me wonder if some in the media want to create a narrative here.

I said it over a year ago, and had a good series of DMs with a few people on here during the draft about an old friend of mine that works in a knowledgeable position with the team. Particularly that they didn't like anyone in the draft and were planning to trade out. He said the Jared Butler was a opportunity, but they weren't too high on him, despite what some media pundits tried to say. Basically it sounded like the Ainge hiring caused a lot of stress for a lot of people (not surprised). Not sure how that spilled out to the team.

My friend thought he was going to lose his job when Ainge was hired. After the Ainge hiring, he stopped giving me updates. I think he may have actually switched jobs, as he was trying to get a promotion and had applied for jobs with a few other teams. Need to try and touch base with him...

I think in this market, the smarter narrative to push about the Jazz is the one that shouts the good and whispers the bad.

This is a system of access, and this gatekeeping by the organization has helped Tony Jones succeed to the heights he has.

I would let the dust settle for a bit first to assess if has really moved on or not. This was an incredibly disappointing end to the season. Emotions are high. IF after that and he doesn’t want to be here then trade him. If he wants to stay my vote is to do a rebuild around him and no one else on the team is safe. We know he’ll perform in the playoffs. We need to get more athletic and younger and really may need to move on from Rudy, Conley and Quinn

I think the Jazz did an amazing and unexpected job getting Bojan. Adding him to the Rubio, Jae and rest of the guys would have been brilliant and bold by itself. There was no need to have to do the Conley deal. We got the stretch 4 we needed and could have evolved from there.

Instead, we lost Favors, Crowder, Grayson and a 1st all just to upgrade Rubio. It was so stupid.
