The Stamped released their training camp roster today of 17 and they have to be down to 10 when the season starts. Jack Cooley and Kevin Murphy are attending as well as former Utah player Aaron Dotson and Weber State's Nick Covington. Covington played summer league with the Jazz last year and it seems to be played really well in one game. Dotson was highly recruited out of high school (the same high school Marvin Willaims went to) and it seems to me had injury problems with the Utes.

I'll give you this homey. You really love your D-league basketball.

In addition to the two Jazz cuts a couple of players that might still be prospects are Dexter Strickland from North Carolinia and Reggie Hearn from Northwestern who were both undrafted tweener guards that went to camp with Portland last year. Both are 6'3 to 6'4" and played for the Stampede last year but with those chuckers Pierre Jackson and Murphy their stats were modest. Both are 23 years old and the Stamps coach said on the radio last night that he was "under orders" to get people that will play in the Utah system, are good citizens and have a chance to succeed at the next level. DL sounds like he is paying attention to the farm team.

The Stampede are playing an exhibition game at CSI in Twin Falls Saturday night. On Reno's roster is David Stockton and the 7'5" 350 lbs guy that played at New Mexico State.

How many guys do the jazz get to hold on to when they are on the Stampede? I would think they get more than 1 affiliate player... Why wouldn't the jazz be utilizing this more? It's like extra roster spots isn't it?

I suspect Cooley is down there for seasoning and perhaps the point guard they drafted with their first DLeague pick as well. It sounds like the Jazz wanted to bring him to camp but he had signed a standard DLeague contract first which is kind of a head scratcher.

Here's a story about Carrick Felix. No mention of him $hittin@ the bed in the Jazz training camp.

Cooley had a big statisticsl night in preseason with 25 points 11 rebounds and a couple of blocks. A guy that had a big night for Idaho was a guy from Texas State with 24 points in like 14 minutes. He's from Brooklyn via a JC. Might be a guy to watch, is a small forward particularly with Rodney kind of gimping.

Actually Cooley's night was 24 points and 16 rebounds. David Stockton for Reno had 21 points and 6 assists. The 6 assists lead both teams.

Brock signed for the year with a team in Adelaide and Josh Childress is playing in that league. I think it pays better than the DLeague.
