Draft Day grade - A+

Don't see the comp in terms of style, but in quality and importance, yes.

Their measurements are nearly identical (height, reach). Styles are completely different.

Burke is much more of a floor general, tbh. Very unique player-- not really like any other current PG.

The Jazz squeezed every ounce of value out of this draft. They traded up to 9 from 14. They replenished their other 1st-round pick by getting 26 for 46 and cash. Then they turn around and get 47 for a future 2nd round pick.

It amounts to getting Trey Burke for 14 + a future 2nd-round pick + some cash.

This draft exceeded all my expectations. It's been a long time since I felt this good about being a Jazz fan.

Now would be a good time to bring up the fact that Burke was once in the conversation to go #1 (they talked about it at the combine).

I have never seen a draft get this much support from jazzfanz. It's amazing.

Quite unbelievable.

I mean, I don't think Burke is a bad pick. But for a bad draft, and hearing from multiple people that the PG's in the draft are weak, I just don't see him as a savior or center piece that a lot of people are hyping him to be. I hope I'm wrong. Then again, I may just be forgetting about MoWilliams/Tinsley/Watson.

Burke has some weaknesses.. but he has 'it.' And as kkk said below, he'll be a leader, a good one, and this team NEEDS that.

Great handle, low TO's high Assists, great shooter, spot-up and off the bounce. He's the perfect fit for our team, as well as BPA at #9.

Best of all, he'll bring leadership to the team that's been starving for one for years...

Yes.

Just to be clear, I think this is how most of us feel.

Just understand that we were projected up until hours before the draft to take Noguiera and Larkin.

We got Burke and Gobert instead. That's pretty sweet.

I sincerely say I would have thought this outside the realm of any possibility. This HAS to be the year we are considered to have raped the draft.

This draft exceeded all my expectations. It's been a long time since I felt this good about being a Jazz fan.

I share some of your concerns and yes I think you are forgetting about the trio. I wasn't as excited about Burke because I do have some concerns about his size but his lack of size is more about a lack of height than length. His wingspan is very good and he seems to have the respect of the players he plays with.

Maybe people are a little over excited because the thought of even having a chance at Burke was pretty impossible. Now that the reality is here, people are excited. In this draft I thought Burke was one of the better players so I am happy. Do I think he will be a star? Don't know but if he runs the team, provides leadership and can hit open jump shots within the system then how can you not be excited?

Yea I agree that is what is more amazing considering all the ridiculous rumors going around. Beside the fact that it showed that Lindsey has started a new era in Jazzland making deals which benefit the team and not be conservative with his approach. The biggest deal was Gobert. They got him for the 46th pick, his range in mocks were 7-25.

With any draft you never know the real grade until a few years down the line but I think Lindsey maximized the potential out of this draft.

Between the Rams and the Jazz, draft nights for me usually lack excitement or are filled with disappointment. This year for both teams, the draft has been full of excitement as both teams were aggressive and went for the players they wanted AND needed. This was a great draft and whether or not Burke can play remains to be seen and there may be players taken later who turn out better. Regardless, I will never complain about it if he is a bust because they didn't settle and they worked the draft. That's what I ask from my teams when they draft.
