Dudes... The guy we need to Draft is Noah Vonleh

Well who ever we draft at 5 is going to come off the bench next season tbh. I'm guessing you would draft smart then? Because he's the only none PF in that range.

I'd rather have us trade up into the top 3 and draft a starter. And if we can't, just trade the pick for a good veteran.

I've seen a couple of people suggest this, but I think it's a terrible idea. I'm all for trying to trade up for Wiggins or Parker, but if that's not realistic I think you scout the next tier and take the best player still on the board.

They're all incredibly young, won't necessarily be counted on right away, have All-Star potential and will come relatively cheap if they live up to the hype/potential. A veteran player is a limited investment. Limited years and at a higher cost initially.

Not only is this draft strong at the top, but it appears to be deep as well. The Jazz are not ready to invest in that contract yet IMO. Soon, possibly, but not yet. Better to scout your *** off and roll the dice on upside.

I think anyone predicting Wiggins will be an immediate superstar will have a very rude awakening. In fact, he's the most likely to not reach his potential out of the big 3, IMO.

There, I said it.

The problem with that is finding one that is under a good contract for the next 4 years. For instance I have heard Affalo's name, who is a good shooting guard, but he is under contract one more year then could bolt. The great thing about a rookie is you can have them 8 years if you want to. Knowing this, it would make more sense to trade down and draft McDeromott over a veteran, he is NBA ready, no development needed, and on a cheap contract.

You do realize Gordon is worse then Hayward shooting off the dribble right. He'll never be a good shooter, and has little to no offensive game other then around the basket and slashing, so he will probably shoot a lot of ft's and miss a lot too.

When you are done using your crystal ball can I use it? Gordon is 18 years old with a strong BBIQ and work ethic from all the reports I've read. You might be right but I think you are sounding as if it can't happen. No one knows either way if Gordon or Vonleh are going to get better or be great/very good players. The odds that neither will be a superstar but to say with such certainty that one or the other can't do this or improve on that sounds pretty ridiculous.

As far as Vonleh size, I don't think it is as big as a concern as some people are making it sound. How many BIG centers are there in the NBA these days? Did everyone watch how Pop basically made Ibaka average by playing a Matt Bonner at Center? Vonleh biggest attribute besides his wingspan, big hands and his ability to rebound is his ability to shoot from outside. I am leaning towards Gordon but I would be just as happy with Vonleh. Another fact for me is what type of system are the Jazz going to run? If the Jazz are going to run more than I think Gordon benefits more and in a half court setting I think that helps Vonleh.

Wiggins = project
Embiid = project
Parker = NBA ready as a shooter, but can he even defend his own shadow?
Exum = no one knows
Smart = poor shooter.
*By your own argument re: Vonleh, we already have a poor-shooting PG. Why do we need another one?
