EA Games promoting real weapons

As part of their effort to promote Medal of Honor: Warfighter, EA is partnering with actual weapons manufacturers and hawking their products.

One wonders who in their marketing department actually thought this would be a good idea.

I couldn't read that article (many game-related sites are blocked at work), but they've quickly back-tracked from the idea.

On a side note, the down-side to this is that money generated from these weapon sales would have supported EA's Project Honor. On the plus side, I'm sure EA can find other ways to finance that.
