What's new

Election day!!!! Go vote!!!

The Daily did a nice bit last night. The winner of the election was Money, and the loser was Different Money.

Fixed. I haven't seem many ideas worth a damn out of any of them lately, but they all follow the almighty dollar.

Washington does suck but I agree with you in what do they really stand for?

This election was a choice between "DOWN WITH DC!" and "WAR ON ______!". Terrible.

Good 2nd point.

I'm not trolling at all and realize it comes to most as sticker shock, but I take the throw em all out line the same as I take a liberal bashing business (or anything Dutchjazzer writes). They mentality is one in the same even if the targets are different.

Good fix. Here's the thing about "they bought the elections!!!!111". There is big money fighting each other over ideas just like you and I fight each other over ideas. The only difference is they have the money to get their [identical] points heard on the national stage. They pay to say what we want to say. They spend for us, and as usual the poor guy piggybacks on the deep pockets.

I don't know why we have to pretend there's some crazy dirtbag doings always going on behind the scenes to explain something so simple.

So much for the whole country hating republicans.

I'd rather see a fully Republican congress than the deadlocked do-nothing thieves we currently have, if it means they start doing their job again.

2 things...

How does this prevent gridlock? Democrats can easily employ the same filibustering tactics used by republicans for the past 6 years. And apparently, they may even gain seats by doing this!

Secondly, obama still has the power to veto.

Gridlock will continue until 2016, when democrats can retake the Congress (I think the house is lost for another decade because of gerrymandering) or when republicans retake the White House.

Either way, the biggest donors (koch industries) wants gridlock so gridlock will continue. They are out to prove that government cannot work. Citizens United really needs to be overturned and strict campaign finance reform passed. I would gladly see my taxes go up a little bit to see publicly financed elections and all campaign donations outlawed.

Last I heard, they didn't have 60 seats in the Senate. It will be interesting to see if the Republicans really want to work together or it the rhetoric is just smoke.

Chaffetz is a special kind of dumb ***, disappointed but not surprised he got re-elected.

Very very happy Sim Gill won.

Agreed on both points. Essentially, Utah just got a whole lot more Tea Partyish IMO. Not good.

Because there IS a lot of crazy dirtbag doings going on behind closed doors. More than you would ever believe.

DUH, I KNOW retard.

So that's what they teach in schools over there instead of grammar? Makes sense.

Yeah, so what. There always has been and always will be. The only difference is the succession crowd is filled with even bigger dirtbags who will do the exact same thing but worse.

Here's the logic: Washington is full of dirtbag politicians. Let's throw them out and elect a bunch of newer, stupider, politicians.

If you want to waltz into the temple with a whip and overturn tables then have a reason to do it other than politicians suck lets elect new politicans that suck.

Hard to argue with your train of thought. One thing to consider is that the longer someone is in office, the more susceptible to dirt baggery they become. Just an opinion, but I feel pretty confident that it's accurate in most cases. I am all for term limits for just this reason and rarely vote for an incumbent unless he/she is doing a bangup job.

And what's a bangup job? These politicians aren't public servants. They're all self-serving, blood-sucking rats in cahoots with corporate snakes looking to suck every ounce of blood they can from the dumb sheep public - every last one of 'em. Especially the REpublicans!1

I'm most pissed about the over the top gerrymandering of our US congressional districts. The boundaries were drawn like four years ago and I'm still butt hurt about it.

I'm glad that there will be an African American woman representing Utah.
