Elfrid Payton

Here might be a guy worthy of the Jazz second first round pick this year:
"Elfrid Payton is this year’s Damian Lillard. Nobody knows a thing about this guy. But what they do know intrigues them.

The 6-3 junior had great numbers at the World Championships in Prague this past summer, leading the U.S. Under-19 team to gold.

As a potential mid-round pick the Jazz could snag him at No. 23 if Tyler Ennis from Syracuse is gone. He averaged 19 points and six assists per game, helping lead ULL to the NCAA Tournament."

I like him, but now that I see homeytennis is repping him, he'll probably never be anything more than a D-League star.

Dammit homey.

I'll take a backup PG in a heartbeat. The great thing about this offseason (assuming Hayward returns at a fair price) is that we can acquire any position without a ton of risk since we have a foundation of 5 starters already.

I am intrigued but it depends on whether we will draft Exum or bring in Neto.

I don't know his game, but i think a back-up PG is a solid pick in the late 1st round. Personally, I am hoping for Glen Robinson III. Physically a perfect small forward, who can shoot, get to the basket, and defend… when motivated. If he went out last year, he would have been a late lottery pick, but lack of drive and seemingly improvement as a leader hurt his stock. He could prove to be the steal of the draft though.

What I liked is when the writer was comparing him to Damian Lillard. Obviously he probably won't be as good but if he is close the Jazz need some pieces like that for next year.

PG's are similar to RB's. You don't want to overpay for one and you can find good value in later rounds (late first round in the NBA).

If he's there, I'd do it. Let him, Burke and Neto fight for the job...or keep all three.
