Actually, I'm not in love with him, and he's not fully matured as a player. So yes, we can agree that he is not a "good player."

But unlike the misguided such as you (and Sloan), I recognize that developing HEIGHT (which was not available from Fesenko over the weekend) and managing matchups are necessary to be a contender. Fesenko got less than 5 minutes per available game last season, and in three years, he got less PT than Ostertag got in his first year, despite putting up nearly similar scoring rate and rebounding rate. Game after game this year, he (and Elson, too, along Watson and Price and Miles) has contributed to comebacks, despite Fes still being raw (including being a terrible FT shooter).

You're the one who reinstituted the Fesenko talk on this thread, so if you want to move on, move on.

Well no. I think we need to have an understanding here. You seem to Be of the opinion that Fesenko hasn't "developed" because he doesn't get PT. However, I am of the opinion that Fesenko hasn't developed for a number of reasons. Chief among then is his own attention to his personal development, work ethic, and overall maturity. You blame Sloan, and while I'm sure everyone shares some blame, I find it hard to blame Sloan for a player refusing to work to get better and get his own head right. And Fesenko has had 4 years now, 4 YEARS!!, to work on that realm of his own personal development and make himself something. So I am left to conclude that either he isn't capable of it, or doesn't give enough of a **** to do do it. You seem to hold out hope that if the coaches keep holding his hand that he will figure it out. I have long since abandoned the hope that it will make a difference. And thus, while he may show marginal improvements, I think he has essentially hit a ceiling of sorts. I think that what we see now is all that we are going to get from him.

And the Ostertag comparison is rather moot in these times, as illegal defenses have changed. It used to be that you could hide a big stiff center on the offensive end. Now, if thy are not an offensive threat, and Fesenko fits this, you are a liability. Times have changed, and I fear that for Fesenko well he was born about a decade and a half too late.

Probably actually a good thing to get Evans and Fes some minutes. Fes needed it after being out a few games. Was solid in there. hopefully, will help on the road trip.
