Enes' Basketball History

I heard David Locke talk about Enes’ basketball journey, and it’s pretty amazing where Kanter is right now. Kanter picked up a basketball for the first time when he was 14, played on his first team when he was 15, played half a season (school/club) when he was 16, played about 10 games for a prep-school when he was 17, didn’t play for Kentucky at 18, and now he is in the NBA in a shortened season/training camp, doing well against Andrew Bynum at 19.

He had some experience with the national team as well, where he did very well. The speed of the NBA has given him some problems, but It seems like we should have even more patience with him given his history. He’s shown flashes; hopefully, his confidence is high and stays there.

Really, it is pretty remarkable considering his history, that he is playing at the level that he is at this point in his career. We only have good things to come from Enes. I'm looking forward to seeing more growth (and more minutes) from him.

At the first of the year, he would catch a pass or get a rebound right at the rim and get stuffed, reminding me a lot of Koufos. :( On other plays he looked lost and totally without confidence. In half a season he has confidence and some moves in the low post...and he is showing that he has confidence and the work ethic to succeed. I think a little patience is warranted. I think he will continue to make progress. We'll see in a year or two what his ceiling will be.

If he can learn how not bring the ball to his waist on rebounds he can be a good player. If he can learn basketball IQ he can be a pretty good player.

He's going to be one of the better centers in the league. He'll be a top 3 rebounder, with good post moves, good mid range jumper/face up game, and solid post and pick n' roll defense.

And while we need to be patient, I think he's shown he's a fast learner. So we may not have to wait that long at all. I expect he'll be a double double machine his third year (could probably do it next season, but he won't get the minutes).

Hopefully he plays a lot of European Tourney's this off-season ,or something along those lines. The more games he can get in, the better.

It is a great story and it to be honest scared me a lot when we drafted him. I expected a lot of D-League action for him in his first 2 years, so the fact he has held his own as a 19 year old rookie at the next level is impressive. He already has some great tools to work with and build on particularly his rebounding and defense.

I read that story and it's amazing how good he is with almost no experience. I'm starting to wonder how good he can be with more experience.

Wow, I am even more amazed at his ability. I wish his teammates would trust him a little more. He sets nice screens and then rolls to the basket and the PG usually just ignores him. I also want him to start shooting when he is open. I think Enes is going to be a monster in a year or two if he gets minutes.

For sure. Didn't Turkey not make it to the Olympics, though?

turkey will not be in London because we (as a team) were really bad in euro tournament last year. Enes, Ömer Asik and Ersan were the only players who played with ambition. After seeing Enes beating the shot clock by hitting contested mid range jumpers, its pretty disappointing to see him afraid of taking a shot. He hit two in the last 2 games though... Hope he continues.

Maybe some friendly games can be arranged between London 12 participants. WANT to watch him more than 9 min!

here is Kanter's father, the man in suit second from left.
He is a syccesful MD and Professor.
sitting next to Father Kanter is Kerem Kanter, who plays high school ball in US

If Kanter is wide bodied and tall and his father is tall and thin, then his mother is wide.
