if someone knows anything about basketball, you'll know that a TON of the fail on that possession is on TyCo, or whoever designed the defensive game plan.
evryone knows BIG AL is not a elite dfender but a coach's job is to put a player in a position to succeed.
as you can see in that video, BIG AL has CLEARLY been told to hedge tight and hard on, or even switch onto the ball handler.
WTF. so now you have BIG AL either A)matched up 1vs1 against a great ball handler like harden or scrambling to run back into position after hedging hard on the pick. if you know what kind of player BIG AL is and his limitations, you dont ask BIG AL to play the pick and roll like that. stuff like that is usually reserved for quick and agile and usually smaller defenders, not bigger (and slower) guys like BIG AL. there are some exceptions of bigger guys playing like this, for example Tyson Chandler, but even he gets beat on plays like this on the regular and has to make up for it with blocks. But he is an exception. Most players like BIG AL's size aren't supposed to play the pick and roll like that.
everyone is hating on BIG AL on this board but the way TyCo implents his defensive gameplan, it's setting up BIG AL to fail.
you have to adjust your gameplan to play to ur personell's strenghts and try to mask their weaknesses as much as possible.
TyCo? does the exact opposite. and BIG AL isn't the only guy he's done this to.

Actually I don't blame Al for this play, he got screened on the play, but if you watch Millsap on that play, he watches the entire play unfold and watches Harden go right by him, pathetic!

Ty needs to somehow find a way to get more effort from this team. The best way to do that would be benching. We might lose, but let's face it, if what happened last night continues we aren't winning regardless.
