Eric Bledsoe

They would probably want to pawn off Deandre Jordan and his bloated contract for Al Jefferson. Not sure whey they would want Paul with Blake on the team already. Also have to make the money match.

I dont want Bledsoe at all, he is not a good shooter at all and also isnt a pass first point guard.

We already have the top and third most "pass first" point guards in the NBA.

You need a player that can play. The guy averages 1.7 stls and .9 blocks (2.8 & 1.4 /36). He rebounds extremely well, is shooting 41.5% from three, and showed that he can pass the ball as well in the latter part of his starting role, where he started to thrive. He also drives extremely well. He had a game of 23 & 10, 17 & 9, followed by a 27, 6, 3, 6, 3 game. Bledsoe, Hayward, SF, Favors, and Kanter would be a very exiting starting group if nothing else and has the potential to be very good/great.

...I'm actually not altogether opposed to this idea. DeAndre still has LOADS of untapped potential on the defensive end of the floor. I could see him averaging 3+ blocks a game getting 28-32 minutes behind Favors/Kanter. We'd still be overpaying at $9/10M per year, but it might be worth it if it also landed us a franchise cornerstone PG. Favors, Kanter and DeAndre would be a wrecking crew defensively.

Another bledsoe thread?... i dont hink bledsoe is as good as every one thinks. i think if anyone on this board was the clippers PG the could look moderatly decent. heck if you air ball it grif or jordan jump up and grab it and they call it an assist. i think if he played in an enviroment where he was the main fiddle it wouldnt have such a nice sound.
You do realize Bledsoe gets to the rim at will right? He's still young and developing. I've never been too concerned with my pg's being good shooters. He would be great with Favors in pick'n roll and will improve his shot.
again.. he is playing with two big shot blockers in jordan and grif. he is on a very well built team right now that makes his job much easier. i dont think he is a dimond in the rough. i think he is a part of these wedding bands you can buy now that are covered with little flakey dimonds. but when you take one of those flakey dimonds away from the ring it just dosent have the same glimmer. (this is and anolgy of bledsoe.) he looks better due to who is around him.
not a shot blocker
blake is still a defensive force. to bad they dont have a stat for altered shots. he contributes in the paint. pg know that he is there.

but i guess we wont know until he gets traded to another team and we get to see him get over paid to struggle and under achieve what so many though he was worth on a team full of good players.

you haven't seen much of Blake have you....... Blake doesn't know what defense is! He's almost as laxidasical on defense as Al is and Al is a big body and gets more blocks then Grif. does. Besides after this year Al will be gone and possibly Millsap as well. Favors/Kanter >>>>> Griffin/Jordan all day long. Why do you think Millsap usually has big games against the Clips. Griffin is every bit the liability Al is.

I totally agree. This pass first point guard obsession needs to stop. As long as we have a big man that can pass and another play maker (potentially Hayward) on the team, we should be good. A Dragic/Tony Parker/Bledsoe type pg on this team would be awesome.

Also agree. With Bledsoe the defensive potential would be off the charts. Who could score on us with Bledsoe, Hayward, Carroll, and Favors all being top notch defenders, and Burks, and Kanter being decent defenders. I would think that Millsap and a future pick would be enough to nab Bledsoe.

I didn't read every post, but when someone says something like "I laugh at everybody wanting Bledsoe, dudes overrated, IMO"

Then provides no reason why they believe his stats/play are a fluke, it lacks cred, imo.

Rep for anyone that thinks Bledsoe is not a good starting PG an states why ... With basketball sense.

Burks' defense is as good as Switzerland's.

I actually am very much in favor of Bledsoe, but if I were to argue against him for the sake of playing Devil's Advocate, I would focus on two main points:

1. Lack of ability in the pick and roll. From what I've seen, which is admittedly limited, he's not a great distributor which could cause problems moving forward with Favors. This could be mitigated to some extent by the ability of Hayward to handle the ball, but a true pick and roll point guard could help Favors reach his potential.

2. Lack of sample size / high price relative to sample size. Bledsoe has been impressive, but he has played the majority of his minutes off the bench and even though he did start a few games, I don't think he's been scouted to the same extent that most starters have. If he is made a higher priority in our offense, will we find ourselves with a Rondo-like offensive situation, with opposing PGs backing WAY off him and forcing him to shoot? This could be a problem. That, combined with the potential for a serious overpay right now because of the hype surrounding him and the hesitance of the Clippers to trade him could make this acquisition disastrous in the worst case scenario.

I think those are both pretty reasonable arguments against Bledsoe, although personally I am a fan and would be more than happy to trade for him.

Thanks. I didn't agree with everything you wrote, but enjoyed the read and it was a fair and reasonable post.

Damn your rep I can't say with a straight face that Bledsoe is overrated. I think he will be a future Allstar multiple times, and will be very good. I see him as a Westbrook in a shorter body.
