Incredibly, the Jazz have had only four coaches since moving from New Orleans in 1979, but on Monday we learned they'll need a fifth, as the team announced that head coach Tyrone Corbin will not be offered a new contract following a 25-57 season. So who might the Jazz turn to next? Jeff Hornacek would be a nice option right about now, but that won't be the case after his terrific season as a first-year head coach in Phoenix.
Instead, the name being mentioned most on Monday is San Antonio assistant Jim Boylen, the former coach of the Utah Utes. Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo Sports writes that Boylen is a "likely candidate," per sources, and that he "has a strong history with Jazz GM Dennis Lindsey."
Tony Jones of The Salt Lake Tribune tweets that he heard Boylen mentioned for the job "more than once in the past week," adding this: "Boylen and Lindsey are close, share the same agent, and he fits the profile. Obviously the downside to JB is his tenure with the Utes."
Jody Genessy of the Deseret News writes of several other possible options, including Mike Longabardi, Alex Jensen, Brad Jones, Fred Hoiberg, Ettore Messina and Andy Greer, as well as Larry Krystkowiak."
