Based on what?

Based on the fact he often looked lost and overwhelmed while coaching the Utes. His resume is pretty much living in other greats' shadows - Jud Heathcote, Tom Izzo, Rudy Tomjanovich and Greg Popovich. But none of that proves anything beyond the fact he's been a good assistant. I'd much rather the Jazz go hire a coach who has proven NBA head coaching experience and not risk promoting a woefully inexperienced assistant again.

Jim Boylen! Hahahahahahahahahaha! All the consternation about firing Corbin, and now we'll get Boylen! FML!

Not only no, but hell no. Boylen won his first few years at the U with Giacoletti's players. They were as bad as it gets by the time he left.

I'll take Larry K over Boylen any day of the week.

With all the excitement of Ty not getting renewed, I feel like someone punched me in the gut when I heard Boylen's a possibility. He coudln't have done a worse job with Utah if he had tried. Someone please tell DL that Bolen managed to alienate both Utah and BYU fans.

Not a good hire.

Why does everyone assume that anyone with ties to Utah is a good fit for Utah.

There's exactly 30 NBA head coaching jobs. The Jazz have a young (and hopefully talented) roster and likely a top five pick in a loaded draft. They should have some decent options.

Plus, considering what they were willing to pay Biedrins, Rush and Jefferson they can afford to pay whatever it takes to get a top-level coach.
