5. Thunder 55-27
6. Grizzlies 51-31
7. Pelicans 47-35
8. Mavs 41-41
9. Jazz 40-42

That's right. ESPN thinks the Jazz will have another losing season out of the playoffs. I look forward to the Jazz upsetting all the experts.

They may have us with a losing record, but they have us finishing 1 game out of the playoffs, so it's not like they are predicting us to suck. It's basically where everyone here is projecting us around, ESPN just thinks Wins and losses are going to be more evenly distributed this year.

No It's not. This is several games below the Jazzfanz average. Many posters have the Jazz pegged around 50 wins. Nice try but no.

I said the seeding is where most people are projecting us. ESPN is just assuming the bottom of the league is going to be more even with the mid tier, so the win distribution won't be so uneven, meaning a 7th seed team won't be winning 50 games this year. It's an interesting projection in that sense and it makes sense because the league should be finding more balance.

In that sense ok. Still low side but ok. Straight standing wise they are about 8 wins lower than Jazzfanz.

Rough average of votes over the first 3 pages (not vegas line posts) are at 48 wins.

But non of that changes the truthfulness of what I said. That projection is a losing record for a team out of the playoffs.

Don't forget all of those predictions were with a healthy Exum...

Also, if you read the thread, Dalamon says "we need 50 wins to get in" so there is a thought among some Jazzfanz that even the 48 win total you say is the aggregate, would not be enough to get an 8th seed, which is effectively the same projection ESPN has given.

Even you yourself said this
Edit: Also if you are right on who improved and who didn't then I think that 44-45 wins won't be enough for the 8th seed. It'll be closer to 50.
So you also think the aggregate of 48 (which may or may not be accurate) may only be good enough for a 9th seed.

True, but the majority consensus is that Exum will not stop the Jazz from making the playoffs.

I used 55 wins for Dala as that is his actual vote and not his comment about 50 wins needed to get in the playoffs.

I ignored vegas lines, wins needed for playoffs and other things. I tried to straight up find statements of what each poster thinks they will win.

It is interesting that the Mavs are still ahead of us to me. Dirk is over 50,000 minutes played now... D-Will may have a renaissance, but I doubt it. They lost Tyson Chandler and Ellis in the offseason... both were really productive. Wes coming off Achilles will likely need a year. Parsons is coming off of knee surgery. I know Carlisle is good, but he needs something to work with. Pachulia was a decent pickup, but I would guess that team is lotto bound.

I also think if Burke doesn't do well that we make a change midseason through trade... that obviously wouldn't be factored in here, but I think it is an absolute priority to make the playoffs this year. The Exum injury gives us justification to get a vet on a 2 or 3 year deal to make us better now.

Yeah, I agree on the Dante/Playoffs thing, but I do think not having Dante eliminates the ability to win 50+ games. I think posters who had hopes that high rested on the hopes that Dante would improve a good amount.

Yeah, I don't see Dallas being better than us at all.

Fair enough.

Seems about right. It will be interesting to see how Alvin Gentry helps the Pelicans. We'll be battling the Mavs for the 8 seed, but I think we are better than them.

I don't think a new coach is really what NOLA needed. They need health more than anything, and getting out from under Eric Gordon's awful contract.

not convinced that even with AD being great that NO is that good .. i may be wrong But we're easily going to be better than Dallas ffs

I'd really like to say that's b.s. but that competition is nuts. San Antonio and Memphis gonna fall though. I'm currently rolling in Gregg Pop's grave at that LMA signing. Such an anti, dynasty killing signing. I love it.

Memphis and Dallis are old. OKC will likely have more injuries. Houston's all offense, nothing else will finally be game planned.... Utah gonna take the world by storm this year. This is probably the first time I've ever thought they were actually underrated. Let's hope for health.
