evaluating preseason

I thought the preseason was gonna be about a couple of things:

1. Establishing a defensive scheme and drill, drill, drill.
2. Emphasizing rebounding on both ends.
3. Getting a lot of burn for our core, so they could have some in-game work to establish some chemistry with a new offense.

Trey's injury gives Corbin a little bit of a pass, but I don't think we've been successful at these three things. Especially the defense, which has looked downright miserable for stretches. I like certain glimpses from the offense, but plugging JL3 into the lineup was :banghead: idea. From my perspective, we're about to go into the regular season scratching our heads.

What has been accomplished-

Gordon Hayward's blood pressure is up.
Favors is starting to carve out his niche in the NBA.

I can't think of anything else of note.

If I were hotttnickkk or orangello, I'd desperately inquire about whether your post was a sign that you agree with me, and whether you thought I was as awesome as you, and whether it deserved rep.

Well, maybe orangello as flamed out a bit.

I agreed with you.
I wouldn't wish upon you to be as awesome as me.. it's a hella burden.

Kanter is doing the same on the offensive side.

I don't disagree with the points made.

It's nice to see.

I retract my offensive stereotype.

Nope, none of that.

All I'm thinking about is what a flop this thread has been.

The last two games have had some nice glimmers on the defensive side of the ball. Rebounding was better. Gobert over Beeno. The second quarter of last night's game was the first time I saw our defensive potential. Promising.

I don't think our bench will suck too hard when we get Rush and Marvin back. At the very least, it should be an adequate defensive unit (with the exception of whoever is playing pg).

I feel that our rebounding has been good, especially from the bigs. Chemistry was affected by Burke going down. I am disappointed in the amount of time that Kanter got an to a lesser extent Burks. Especially the last 2-3 games but injuries played a.role in that. Rush, Evans, Williams and Burks just need to heal already.

Defensive unit of Gobert, Favors, Williams, Hayward, Burks?

Jazz gave a lot of time to unsigned guys. It's possible Justin Holiday could make the team. I'm not sure about anyone else.

Gobert got some good reps the last couple of games.
Favors confidence has to be growing after doing well against the Blake and DeAndre. He needed a bounce-back game after the previous one.
Alec Burks has gotten some more freedom and got better as the pre-season progressed.
Hayward is learning to run the offense.
Jeremy Evans showed that he can shoot a bit.

I'm seeing some progress here.

Gobert is the backup big I want to see getting the most minutes, and I don't think he pairs well with Evans. I hope the regular season has Favs, Enes, and Rudy getting the majority of the minutes, and I like Marvin as a stretch4 when time and matchups permit.

How much time do you want Evans getting. I'd play him as a big over Williams and Brickins.

The preseason has gone just how I hope the regular season will go...

We are in most of the Games but don't win and we only beat the Warriors!!!
