What's new

Every one of you would make this trade. You're lying if you say otherwise.

Obviously a one-sided, NY-loving writer.

Jazz get: 29th pick in 2015 NBA Draft and Deron Williams.

Nets get: 42nd pick in 2015, Jazz's 1st-round pick in 2017, Knicks 2nd-round pick in 2017 (via Utah) and $3 million in cash.

Let's say Utah wanted DWill back... Jazz are doing Nets a favor and giving up way to much. No way the Jazz should be paying $3m in order to save the Nets $43m. If anything it should be DWill + #29 for #42 only.

Either way, salary-wise, I don't think it works as Utah would be too over the cap. Utah would have to include every non-guaranteed deal + Booker, which I wouldn't do. I'd rather have David Lee, Joe Johnson, or Rudy Gay (in that order) if Utah was going to take on a vet with an insane contract.

I'm not against bringing DWill back. BUT, I'm not trading for him, nor am I giving away a first round pick, nor am I paying him max money, nor am I giving NJ money for him.

Just wait until he is bought out/stretched. Then give him the mid level.

They forgot the part where we get their #1 pick in 2019, 2020, 2021, 2022, 2023, 2024, 2025, 2026, 2027, 2028, 2029, 2030 and $3 million in cash.

Although I'd LOVE to see Deron get the Quin death stare after refusing to run a play.

Deron was smart to eventually try something different, rather than to run plays that the other team was smothering on every damn possession, time after time. There are legitimate things that Deron should be criticized for, but that isn't one of them. Jerry Sloan was a great coach at one time, but he was far from perfect, especially in the last few years of his career, in which he failed to adjust his offense when other teams had our number.

I just realized an actual Utah fan/writer made this trade... WOW!

What an idiot. So glad this dude has nothing to do with the actual Jazz. He should consider writing for the Kings SB page, he'd be good at it.

So is this team any good? I think so. And, again, in an exercise where I add vets (not what I actually want to do) I was still successful in getting three new rookie contracts that lock in lotto level talent to fill out our bench. And this team challenges for a Western Conference Playoff spot if they stay healthy and play together as a team.

This is just a rehash of the other thread we had discussing bringing back D Will.

1) It will never happen.
2) It better damn well never happen.

Couldn't really make a worse move.

His draft wasn't bad. Turner, Booker and Lyles. . . but he traded away every decent asset the Jazz have over the next 4 years AND took on D-Will's albatross contract. That's a huge fail. Jazz are much better off letting the cake bake and then looking to cash in all their assets for one All Star caliber player sometime between now and the 2016 trade deadline. Adding three rookies (although I'm a huge fan of Myles Turner) are not going to help this team move up to championship caliber. So glad that DL is level headed. He's aggressive, but not stupid.

Yep.

Give us 2 more seasons and D Will is gonna be begging to be part of this.

You've assumed too much Tony. The focus of this team appears to be developing the young talent that we have and putting ourselves in the best possible position to sign as much of this young core to extensions as possible. There's no need to bring a coach killer with chronic injuries in here on a bloated contract whose career is on the back nine. It's antithetical to the direction of the team and would be a net (no pun intended) negative.

But then again, I must be lying.
