Extend Mo?

If anything, I think the Jazz would let Mo become a FA, try to make some other impact signings (while having discussions with Mo) and then use Mo's Bird rights to go over the cap rather than use up some of the cap space by extending him.
Good thought. Yes, it would definitely make sense to get a commitment from Mo, but wait until after other FA's have been signed before finalizing his deal. Jazz could be players next summer, if not in acquiring the top-tier FA's, then in taking on very good veterans as teams try to free up cap space to go after the big names. Or Utah can let the market settle and swoop in for the 2nd-tier guys, being able to offer more than just the MLE, which is all a lot of other teams will have to offer.

If the Jazz are convinced that Mo Williams is our point guard for the near future, 3 to 4 years, then I think it wouldn't be a bad thing to extend him. I think a 3/20 or 4/26 would be worth it. Also, in the event that we get a younger and better point guard, I could see Mo coming off the bench eventually and playing a Jason Terry type role. Extending Mo Williams isn't a bad idea.

Love Mo and glad to have him back. However, I am sure there will be plenty of times on this board this season where he is being attacked in the same way Harris was. I am not convinced he is any better than Harris who was a solid NBA PG. I certainly don't see MO as the long term solution. No way do they extend him at this point.

It is very premature to talk about extending Mo. We need to see him play in our system with our core guys. And I don't know that he market is going to be that high for him.
