Favors - can't we accept him as a Tyson Chandler type of player?

All I was implying is that is sorta throws a wet blanket on the trade if Favors doesnt turn into a big time player. He was the center piece of the trade.

It would be kind of odd, if Kanter ends up being the best player in that trade.

Marvin Williams is essentially garbage, and it's a long shot to expect the gs pick to be anything

The trade is a complete fail if we dont get an all-star out of it imo
Well, the big question is:
Would the MAX money we could have offered been enough to keep Deron from leaving Utah for less in his hometown. I think that answer is probably NO. Williams would be a MAV and we'd be singing the blues like Cleveland did, wondering who we'd be drafting in the lottery, once this upcoming season came to a merciful end.

Thats not necessarily true. Deron might have started to see the light with Gordon Hayward. We still would have Paul and Al, and maybe we still would have drafted Burks. Deron still might have stayed. And older Dirk might not have been enough. I mean, look at what he stayed for. It isnt much. Also, the Mavs low balled Deron and didnt offer as much as they could. That would have been another reason he stayed.

Anyways, I was just throwing it out there that "if" Derrick Favors busts then it would make the trade look bad. But I dont think thats happening anyways. Derrick will be fine. The Jazz just need to get out of their own way.

Favors will be a solid big, he's just built too well. Whether he'll live up for JF expectations? Probably not.

There is a reason people thought ATL won the trade. Marvin has his own baggage. Atlanta was fed up with him for a reason. Just give it time. His warts will start to show. Same with Foye. The party will be over soon for those guys. The same it was for Josh Howard and Bell

No it wasn't. Nobody had expectations out of Bell or Howard. But you're tryin' real hard, so that's cool.

If Favors was going to literally take 7 years to be a defensive force with passable offensive ability, that would be no good.

Favors being a defensive force by the end of next year with passable offensive ability is a problem. Then you have to decide to match offers for him or overpay him based on potential to improve offensively. Not saying the guy will be a Max player after 2 more seasons, but I'd love it if he'd make it that simple. Otherwise, you try for that respectable low ball offer and hope he bites. There is no concern about what Favors is going to be right now, though.
