or just hold a season then go for CP3 in 2020. Like the Suns literally traded Bricky Ricky for him. Had we kept Ricky for ourselves it'd be us getting CP3. And in that same window Bucks got Jrue as well. Both would've been way better options than Conley.

Rudy and DM were only 27 and 23 in 2019 respectively. Literally no reason to go all in during 2019 offseason.

Jazz should've gone all in on a true 3rd round superstar the offseason we traded for Conley / signed Bogey. They should've traded multiple firsts, etc. instead of half-assing it.

We had other options for sure.

The biggest mistake was not trading for Jerami Grant instead. He was traded for a 1st on July 8th. We did the Conley trade a month earlier on June 19.

Looking back, we could have...
- traded Favors to New Orleans for a 2nd to clear cap space like we did
- signed Bojan like we did
- re-signed Rubio
- and traded for Grant.

And our team would have been cheaper than the team we ended up with.

I do wonder what becomes of this team when/if we get ousted in the first or second round. Definitely big changes... but will it be BIG changes or just big changes. We talking Bogey/Mike trades or we talking Rudy trades or some small moves and a coaching change.

I could get behind a coaching change at this point. I do not think we are major giant changes away from truly contending, but do we have the assets to do a meaningful mid-level move? I don't think so. I would love for us to add a couple of players like Brogdon or Grant (not necessarily them exactly, but that kind of player) in place of Bogey and Conley. I think we would be stronger in general and might be enough to get over the hump. But I do not think we will see changes like that. I think they will double down and add some fringe players like NAW and maybe move a Gay and Whiteside for something on the bench. Probably won't be enough. Maybe we need a blow-up.

I think Ryan Smith will want us to be as competitive as possible next season so that we're guaranteed that Don and Rudy are both all-stars.

I sure hope that isn’t part of anyones thought process. Not saying it’s absurd to think it would be but that isn’t how decisions should be made.

yep, basically undo everything from the 2019 offseason and call it a failed experiment

I'm going through NAW's stats. He was passable for a 2nd-year player last year. His FG% was still low (42%), but his 3FG% was good enough at 35% on nearly 5 attempts per game. He was third on the Pels in scoring at 18 pts per 36 mins behind Zion and Ingram. His steals and rebounds per 36 were pretty good and on par with Lonzo Ball.

Then something happened this year and his shooting percentages just dropped 4 or 5 points across the board (other than FTs). Not sure what it was. I'm guessing that he was defended differently, especially with Zion being out of the rotation. I notice that he's really not able to shoot jumpers off balance or even off movement necessarily. He needs his feet set, squared up, and leaning into his shot. He probably needs to play off the ball and spot up in the corner, taking either open corner 3s or trying to get all the way to the rim. So if he's relied upon to be a primary scorer, he's going to struggle.

NAW was out for 6 or 7 games in late December with Covid. It seems he was playing better than he did after he returned. He led the Pels in scoring four times during the first 6 weeks of the season, but only once after he returned from the illness. Worth noting.
