preseason for ***** sake! Let it go!

Hey retard - preseason/regular season/playoffs is irrelevant. It's simple strategy that should be employed whenever an organized basketball game is being played. I'm sorry you never got to play competitively and can't grasp this concept. I couldn't care less if we won or lost a preseason game or who was on the floor at any point during the game. Do I have my preferences on those matters? Yes. But it is the preseason, so that's irrelevant. However, watching a coach in the NBA who can't break a simple full court press because of x's and o's is absolutely sickening.

I'm waiting for one legitimate response in his defense. I haven't seen one yet. Saying 'it's preseason' doesn't count, and putting it in big bold letters like a little baby certainly doesn't either.

I'll give it a try. Preseason is a time to experiment with different looks, and give players a chance to deal with situations they normally wouldn't be dealing with. Had this been a regular season game, probably all 5 players on the floor would have been different. Ty clearly wasn't playing to win, but instead was giving the young guys a chance to be in a crunch time situation so they could learn from it.

My honest opinion of Ty is that Utah probably did jump the gun a bit by giving him a contract, rather than looking around. However, I think there are pros and cons to doing this. So far, he has done just fine. Every coach makes mistakes, and I'll reserve my judgement for when Ty is in a more critical position, such as fighting for a playoff spot. I get the fact that you're bummed that Utah didn't go after another coach, but I just don't think there's any reason to be so hateful, when he really hasn't even had his chance to show what he can do.

Well said. +1

at the barest of minimums Ty learned that the players on the floor couldn't adequately react to a full-court press. That's something, despite what your mouthwash-addled brain thinks.

Beyond that, those players on the floor now have something to get under their skin; nobody likes being responsible for that kind of performance. That is also something.

Have a xanax, tard.

Excellent post. While it's no excuse, most of my contempt has been for the sake of 'shock value'. But I do think he's incapable. Time will tell and I will be the first to happily eat crow, my own **** or whatever is the trendy thing to say these days when referring to sticking your foot in your mouth.

My main gripe wasn't that Evans was on the floor. It was that he was inbounding the ball when there were 2 other capable ball handlers who were up the court. Why not have Evans up the court and one of the other ball handlers in bound the ball? It just doesn't make any sense. Evans may have potential to be a key contributor in many facets in the NBA, but handling the rock isn't one of 'em.

As you can see in my game thread, I've kept all the anti-Ty and overall nonsensical posts, out of it. A lot of this was just boredom and anxiousness for the season to get here.

Hopefully those who have been around can remember I am a totally sensible poster regarding the Jazz, and typically overly optimistic. As the season gets underway, this shtick will die down. Unless Corbin proves me right. Then I will strain myself patting myself on the back.

I hope everyone has a Merry Christmas this weekend!

So despite the fact that you have legitimate concerns you were being a jerk for the sake of being a jerk? Gee great. I hope you are wrong about Corbin but you are right in that we will find out this season.

Feliz Navidad.

Don't ever call me retard again! Dbag, idiot, loser or **** bag are my preferences.

And I played competitively. I won a Jr. Jazz Championship in 2000 so suck it!

Playing competitively does not mean you can coach or understand how to coach. There is a logical discussion as to why these players weren't ready for a trap defense. When you are building your team in the preseason you have to prioritize what needs to be done. Defensive rotations and a new offense certainly take precedence over installing a press offense or defense. So does conditioning, installing out of bounds plays and transition offense and defense. Trying to get reps for second team personnel for a press offense would be very low on the priority list at this point. These are things that will be addressed over the first month of the season. Saying otherwise means you have no clue.
