I saw this comment about developing talent from others, and I thought, wait a second. Maybe the talent is developing despite Corbin keeping them on the pine. Maybe it's their talent overcoming the lack of opportunities. Does it make sense that you improve your ability by not using it. Can you become a better musician by not practicing?

There was a study out of the Sloan Conference (that big stat geek sports thing) that shows playing time doesn't equal development, or something along those lines.

Maybe it doesn't equate to more physical skills. But I don't buy for a second that it doesn't help you get comfortable playing under the bright lights, at hostile environments, and just boost your overall confidence on the court .. vs. watching from the bench.

I think there's a big difference between practicing basketball and playing in a game, and practicing an instrument and playing a concert -- in the former there are a lot more unpredictable, intangibles related to the opponent; in the latter, the difference is simply the audience. But the point is, you don't develop by watching someone -- sure you can learn something by watching, but the knowledge you get must be integrated with your physical skills, so that you react and not think. I remember Stockton saying something like this, that as a point guard you can't think before you react because things happen so fast, you need to react and you learn this skill by playing in a game not by watching from the bench.

You act like they don't play basketball other than in games. No practices, no workouts, just sitting around staring at the vets.

How did Aaron Rodgers get so good then?

Why does David Carr suck so much ***?

Obviously you can pick QB's who started out right away and are doing great. Luck, RGIII, etc. The point is you can pick some who start right away who suck or are doing great, and you can pick some who sat and watch and suck or are doing great. Getting heavy early PT doesn't equal development. Hard work, practice, and natural ability does.

Using QB's as an example because it's easy to easy when they begin getting PT and when they aren't.

Interesting that this poll is so one-sided and the Corbin supporters continue to make lame arguments that everyone is shooting down -- guess loyalty can be blind. We fought a Civil War because of this. People were so blind with loyalty in the South that they couldn't see that slavery was immoral and wrong, and they were so blind with loyalty they fought a war over it.

Voicing your opinion without anything to back it up is hardly shooting anything down.

He's not keeping everyone happy, hes keeping his veterans happy and pissing off his young players the way Deron was pissed off when Sloan kept him benched most of his ROOKIE season.

Uh huh.

& why does D-Will constantly praise Jerry Sloan?

Stop making **** up to support the hate parade hysteria.

Virtually every super star has shown what they will do in their rookie season. You must be one of those Burks is Dwayne Wade 2.0 types.

Was he the only vet on last years roster that played?

Millsap is the only vet on the roster that has really shown to have a positive impact on a roster in the past, unless you count those 2 years for Harris in Dallas and Howard before knee injuries in Dallas.

What the hell are you talking about? I said D-Will was pissed off when Sloan had him benched so long. He did its a known fact.

Favors is a quiet guy, but he has complained at different times about his role. He was also quoted as being frustrated and seen being frustrated.

I'm not making anything up. You just don't pay attention.

All rookies are pissed when they dont get all the PT they want. Whats your point?

If none of the four young players are premier players, then we made the wrong picks and trades which speaks to how inept management is then. Either way, management and coaching isn't flawless the way your portray them to be most of the time.

I've heard/read in a few places that Deron harbored bitterness toward Sloan for keeping him on the bench during his rookie season. (I think it was only an intervention by the FO that finally forced the issue.) Can you imagine how humiliating it was for him to hear/read all of the praise for CP3 that year while he wasted on the bench behind journeymen Milt Palacio and Keith McLeod? I would have been bitter too, as I think most people would have been. In hindsight, he may praise Sloan, but he carried that bitterness around for awhile, and I wouldn't be surprised if it still festered a bit.
