Posts like this irritate me, mostly that first one. Gobert is not one post move away from being elite. The dude is elite already. The guy leads the league in points per shot already, so his efficiency is top notch. That is only looking at his offense. He is the best defender in the world. He is the captain of elite.

He is not the 4th best center in the league. He does not average 20ppg, but the extra he adds to the team is not seen out in his personal stats. He's been a beast this year, even when the team was sucking. His comments and tweets are elite. Everything Gobert does is elite.

Brow demanding a trade and being a punk, Embiid being an idiot, and Jokic just not being as good overall bump them all below Gobert for me even if they are more skilled offensively and play good defense.

Gobert is more elite at defense than Jokic is at offense. Jokic also sucks at defense. While Gobert cant really create for himself and isnt a go to bucket guy he is still really good on offense. Its a team game and he is the best in the NBA at creating team points with screens. He also sucks so many defenders in on his rolls that it creates a lot of space for the team. He also creates buckets with his rebounding game.

You are looking at Gobert with homer glasses on. I PERSONALLY think he is 4th best, but I would argue that most GMs around the league would put him lower on the list. To say that Embiid, Jokic, and Davis are worse than Gobert is just homerism

If we are playing 1 on 1 maybe I'd take Jokic, and I'd for sure take AD and Embiid. Luckily we are talking 5 on 5 here, a team game. Even Kobe had to rely on his teammates to be standing on the other side of the floor so he would have space to work, so you can see even the most selfish type of game still needs teammates to do things properly.

I would agree with you though, if you don't factor defense at all into the equation and ignore how team plays into things, Gobert may be only the 4th best center in the world.

This **** about Favors in the OP ignores the fact that his body is historically incapable of playing starter's minutes for a full NBA season. 20-24 minutes is perfect for him to keep him healthy and maximize the number of games that he is able to be an actual contributor.

Kobe didnt need another player for him to get his own shot. How many times has he taken the last shot of a game/quarter when everyone in the arena knew he was going to shoot it?

In any event, sure let's just say that I over value offense. I would still say Embiid and Anthony are better centers and move Gobert to #3. Anthony is close to being just as good of a defender as Gobert, but significantly better offensively. Embiid is a good defensive center, not excellent, but good, and he is significantly better at offense.

So, even if I have a higher value for defense when I rate the centers, it would put Gobert at #3. Which I may add, is really really good.

I find it amazing how if I say Gobert is the 4th or 3rd best center in the league that people are offended by that. Haha like, that's still really good, what's the big deal?
