Fires

The Thriller

Wake up this morning and once again the stench of smoke is strong in the air. We here in Happy Valley had a break of perhaps a day or two when the stench was gone (even though that ugly haze was still here).

I don't know the stats but I can't remember a worse fire season here in Utah. It seems like literally every week there's a new fire breaking out and threatening homes. We've had far more dirty smokey days than clean air days.

Luckily, the only fire I've been a part of was when our stupid neighbor a few years ago lit fireworks onto some dry grass between our two homes which resulted in one side of my house receiving fire damage. Idiots. Anyone else have to evacuate this summer (or any summer)? What's it like? Post experiences here. Can you think of a worse fire season? I hate Utah's air (can't wait to move to the coast), post rantings here too...

On a high fire day a welder working on a billboard started a fire about a 1/2 mile from my house. My home is high on a cliff and I can see it from in town. I was driving toward home when I saw the plume of smoke and the fire burst into action. Judging by the wind I knew the fire would be at our house within about 10 minutes. Very strange feeling knowing your family is at home, and you are not. Because of the cliff there would be know way my wife and kids would even know it was coming. I quickly called 911, then my wife to tell her a fire would be at our home within minutes.

I drove through STG about 75mph to get home and beat all but one fire truck. Ended up with 6 trucks around our home (and my wife with a garden hose, lol) and they stopped it, literally at our property line. Fire got a neighbor about 500' away but that was the only structural damage. Fire got completely put out within about 8 hours.

I performed last night at the Gallivan Center. Great place to play, but it is an outside venue. There is so much smoke in the air that by the end of the night I could barely croak. It's horrible.

You should consider quitting smoking. (poles)

Serious?

What a nightmare.

I couldn't find any stats myself, but it definitely seems like the worst fire season that I can remember. I'm fortunate to not have been affected to this point. It's awful that over 50 homes have been lost to fires.

In the mornings you can look right at the sun. Its just a red dot because of all the smoke.

I used to think all of this 2012 end of the world stuff was BS.

Then today they announce that they are going to let womenz have memberships at Augusta National Golf Club.

Game over man. Game over.

It's all true. When the calender ends , it's ends. There is nothing you can do.

I hope you have been stocking only toilet paper. Because there is nothing you can do but **** your pants.
