What's new

Flip wins Summer League MVP.

#1 highlight of all SL, IMO
Agreed. that was a "best pass of the entire nba season" type pass. On the one hand it was awesome. On the other hand I wonder if he should even be attempting those kinds of passes in a real meaningful game. Its like when tht would make an insane circus shot. It was like, cool but dont do that again please.

All star caliber draft picks probably won’t win this because they will only play a game or two usually. That’s why it’s rare.
Yep. Mitchell was a great example. Played what, 2 or 3 SL games and destroyed in those games then didn't play another one. He would have absolutely been the choice that year but he only played a couple games. That's generally the way it goes.

Its a longevity award!

Flip's development has gone nicely. I'm a believer in his jump shot. His defense is so bad I think he's likely more of a third big, but there still seems to be a lot of value to that. Compare Naz Reid's contract to the small, offensive first guards.

I dunno, man. I'm sorta of the old Quin Snyder philosophy on "juice". Players ultimately succeed or fail—and teams see leaps in their ability to compete—based on how much juice they play with.

We have an entire for season for Collier to get "juicy". I'm rooting for it.

Are you sure. I could’ve swore he played more, but you might be right.

Real GM page for DM says he played three in SLC and then two in Vegas. 5 total, but not enough in Vegas to be considered for the award there, I'm sure. In those two Vegas games, btw, he scored 28 ppg on 36/27/88% shooting, with 6 steals and 4 TOs per game.

I like Flip and enjoy seeing his progress. However, I am still hesitant about his long-term future on the Jazz. Yes, he will be probably good as the third - fourth big coming off the bench. But ideally your 3rd/4th big should be able to step up when your starter get injured and hold the fort for 15-20 games. And I am afraid that Flip will get slaughtered playing big minutes against starting centers, PFs and guards. It would be simply a layup drill for players like Chet, Giannis, Kyrie, or Ant.
