No, no, and no. A parent can't pick literally any book. Winnie the Pooh's name wouldn't qualify. The death of Bambi's mother wouldn't qualify. To fall within the scope of HB1069 requires sexual conduct. So basically any parent can go to any school library and pick literally any book (Im offended by the word Pooh so Winnie the Pooh needs to be removed. Sounds too much like poop. I don't want my kid seeing the horrible violence of Bambi's mom being killed so Bambi needs to be removed) and it has to be removed. Just because I said so.
"Depicts or describes sexual conduct as defined in s. 134 847.001(19), unless such material is for a course required by s. 135 1003.46, s. 1003.42(2)(n)1.g., or identified by State Board of 136 Education rule"
Essentially, the district will pay for material to teach the state-required human sexuality courses but illustrations of a 13-year-old boy giving oral sex to another 13-year-old boy, or stories where 11-12 kids all need to f#$k each other to defeat the monster will need to be provided by the parents of those children whose parents want their kids to have it.
I truly don't understand why so many people want elementary schools and elementary teachers to furnish K-5th graders with sexually explicit pornographic material.
