This is Hassan Whiteside entering the 2010 draft after his freshman year at Marshall. This is the version of Whiteside I was comparing Maker to as a prospect. Whiteside was 6'11.5", 225 lbs with a 9'5" standing reach at the same age. He was thin, somewhat athletic, but not explosive vertically, was fairly quick, but limited offensively. He scored on drop offs and put-backs with a few open jumpers. He was seen as a wildcard, with teams looking at him in the lottery, but he ended up getting drafted at the top of the 2nd round. I think overall that Whiteside is a fair expectation for Maker, understanding that it took Whiteside 4+ years to develop to where he is today.

That said, one of the reasons that Whiteside dropped in the 2010 draft was because he really screwed the pooch in some of his interviews. That might have cost him going in the first round. Maker has been interviewing really well apparently.

Great discussion. As for the 6ers trade i love it. Would do that in a heart beat.

As for the 3 pt shooter with speed i like mccaw. Decent 3 pt shooter the is deceptively quick.

True. I like Murray. Wouldn't be opposed to adding him somehow. Good to have an insurance in case Exum has long term health issues or doesn't manage to develop his perceived potential.
I'd be on the fence on trading Burks though, as he's on a good contract if he can stay healthy and his individual development progresses like before he went down.
But if we're unable to add a talented flex big I'd be happy to improve perimeter shooting. I'd also be very intrigued to find out the hard way how good Exum is next year.
I feel like we already got reasonable depth with good talent.
And I'm not sure giving up Burks for Murray is smart. Not sure Murray will be better for sure. He's intriguing but I'm not sure adding a 19 year old that you expect to become a key contributor within 12 months is a good way to keep the core together.

So we add those 3 players. 1 is in our draft range, the other two are under contract in ATL for 1 more year at below $5M total.
We somehow lose Burke and Burks. So what's the return for Burks exactly?
Why would you want to get rid of a quality wing who fitts the age of the contention core and brings a unique skillset to the team?

I don't have the time to go back and look at my previous posts but I clearly don't look at Burks like you do. He had our 4th lowest TS% on the team (he's not efficient offensively) and he blows on defense. In other words, he's sort of a liability on both ends of the court.

Brogdon... on a team not loaded with 5 stars, helped lead them to a 1 seed in 2014, a 2 seed in 2015, and 1 seed in 2016 (and did it while playing in the loaded ACC). Just think he's a winner. But I don't think either will be available in the 2nd round.

Basketball isn't black in white in my mind. There's plays that are inefficient that are efficient in other ways. The True Shooting is just desciribing his finishing ability. His drives have become more sophisticated over the years and he's garnering attention when he does it. Like no other on the roster right now. So he creates space by doing it. He's also become more accurate from the perimeter to balance out his game. He's 25, he's got more upside in my opinion. I wouldn't drop him unless you get a really nice return as his contract is so team favorable.

I'd have a tough time putting much stock into Burks last year. I don't know that he ever got a rhythm because of the injuries. I think you also have to figure his Usage rate when considering his rank on the team as far as TS% goes. He uses a lot more possessions than the other guys and the more possessions you use the more inefficient they become generally. He also plays more with bench guys so there may not be as many efficient scoring opportunities when he is on the floor.

If it was Burks and #12 for Murray though you do it without hesitation.

I would trade him straight up for redick. The only bad part is redick only has 1 year left.
