Really a great turn of events, I remember when you were saying Coach Cal wanted Derryck Thornton as a floor general.. That list of dynamic guards looks a lot like a best-case scenario IMO.
Alkins and Fox on the same squad would be quite the tandem, type of players who should be introduced pregame with war drums sounding off.. They play focused and have enough Killer Instinct where it would rub off on the rest of the team.

I want Fultz too though, even if its greedy. He reminds me of D'Angelo Russell before college and is rated similarly. A great combo guard to put next to another combo guard.
Malik Monk is notably absent from that list though.. What do you make of this talk of him playing PG? I'm not sure tbh. I'd certainly rather let Fultz run point than Monk.
I simply forgot to add Monk. We feel 50/50 with Arky.
Skal just weighed in at 232. Target is 240.
Are you ogling PGs in the 2017 draft already? I doubt we go for one next year, but if Dante doesn't show good signs after his return 2017 PG must be on the table.

BTW - If Charles Matthews can shoot, I'll have to eat crow over complaining about him. To be fair though I'm not the type to talk down without mentioning other options i'd prefer. When I first started to sour on him, It was mainly because I preferred Dwayne Bacon who at the time was ranked similarly near the 30's-40's.
I still stand by that, since Dwayne got his 5th star and some are saying he might be a lottery pick. Kinda hoping I'm wrong though and Matthews is a stud.

.. this ****s kinda depressing... I almost don't see how or why they wouldn't take a PG in this 2016 draft, all the other positions are at least 2 deep and young... Are they really gonna go after some other position?! doesn't seem logical. They can't let this PG issue fester for 2 more years, then look to solve it with a rookie, that just doesn't seem right. Either a 2016 PG or Trade for one, If Trey Burke doesn't make some miracle turnaround this season.
I don't think they'll give up on Dante either, not with Snyder around...
There will be solid PG's on the board for the Jazz in 2017 no matter where they pick. And they'll have 2 first rounders that year.. There could be a huge run on PG's in the lottery, It's by-far the best crop of PG's since the '09 draft. There's a decent list of combo guards in the middle of transitioning to PG that could end up major factors too.
So I can't help but think that now the Jazz would have no business passing on Isaiah Briscoe, who even in a glut of Jazz combo guards, wouldn't exactly be redundant.

Yeah, I doubt they will give up on Dante and I don't want them to give up on him, but surely they should be thinking about contingency plans. The 2017 crop of PGs is extremely strong in both the draft and free agency. I don't think we will be left without a good starting PG past 2017. The point is... that's the year we might lose Hayward, so I think we need good PG play before that in order to have better chance at keeping him and showing him just how good this team can be with good PG play. I would love Dunn or Murray next year. I'm still not sure about Briscoe... he's kind of weird to me from the little I've watched. I'm not sure I love him.

Trading up for Malik Newman or Jamal Murray probably figures to be at-least a little bit more interesting for the Jazz now. In a backcourt with a healthy Exum both could play SG.
If Newman proves to be serviceable at point, there's be value in that especially if Dante doesn't recover 100%... If Newman shoots the ball lights out from 3, which he's more than capable of, that could definitely warrant the Jazz spending assets. The premium in the league on elite shooters is only going to grow, Newman surely stands to benefit.
If Murray shoots the ball lights out he might go too high to trade up for.
Essentially with Newman, Murray or Briscoe, your talking about replacing Burke if he can't provide the necessary firepower, substantial upgrades if ya ask me. Which could leave Burke as sort of a lame duck 2nd/3rd string PG going into his final year on a rookie deal, there's some still value in that.
It's easy to say 'why get excited for this draft as a Jazz fan, we already have so many good young players' I think thats really missing the point though. The team might already have too many players to pay long-term, especially if Hayward plans on opting out and trying to get the max.
If they can find a real gem in one of these next few drafts, It will only open the window further. Contributors on rookie deals make a big difference(Draymond Green), don't let anyone convince ya otherwise...

It's too early to tell, since every year some PG appears out of nowhere a few months before the draft, but the best candidates right now are Kris Dunn, Jamal Murray and Isaiah Briscoe. Malik Newman is probably the best PG/SG prospect in that draft but chance is he won't be available where we pick. Jamal Murray and Dunn might or might not be available depending on how their year goes and where the Jazz finish.
