Yeah, I doubt they will give up on Dante and I don't want them to give up on him, but surely they should be thinking about contingency plans. The 2017 crop of PGs is extremely strong in both the draft and free agency. I don't think we will be left without a good starting PG past 2017. The point is... that's the year we might lose Hayward, so I think we need good PG play before that in order to have better chance at keeping him and showing him just how good this team can be with good PG play. I would love Dunn or Murray next year. I'm still not sure about Briscoe... he's kind of weird to me from the little I've watched. I'm not sure I love him.
Briscoe is sure to have a few games next year that will put people on notice, I'm very confident in this. he can put up points really fast, and plays like he knows it. He's probably best suited early in his NBA career in a 6th man, green-lit shooting type of role... ... .... . .. . . I like his chances at being a starting PG eventually though. He's probably worst-case: Randy Foye.
He's only a combo guard because of his shot selection and he's strong enough to handle bigger guards, he can actually facilitate quite well for a scorer, he's got good court-vision. Briscoe's a gamer, ultra-competitive. Also a winner and totally fearless, he takes big shots and makes them! Let the record show he was those things before he ever got an offer from Kentucky!!!
Capable of making all sorts of ridiculous "heat-check" type of shots, it will be interesting to see how he reels that in.. He's also capable of making those Stephon Marbury type drives to the rim that Trey Burke can't (strong enough to ward off a defender with his off arm or shoulder and finish at the rim). He possesses a fairly unique combination of skills and physical profile. dude's a brick house has that sort-of "I used to be chubby" type of strength. 6'9" wingspan is pretty crazy at his height too. he's built for the NBA..
It will be interesting to see how his overall quickness holds up, he's got great hand eye coordination, and exceptional body control, he stops on a dime and is all sorts of hurkey jerky with the handle.
