What's new

Following 2016 potential draftees

Skal can't even play 15 minutes and he's gonna be Channing Frye at the least, and you wanna come over with this ****?

Skal should be at least a Channing Frye (who's just a floor spacer). He'll go top 12 in this draft. Frye was a 33% 3-pt shooter until his 5th year in the league when he made a jump to 40%.

Murray has better ball skills in the paint than Exum has shown, yes.

Yes, how ridiculous to say his floor is a role player hitting 3's, playing good defense and making simple, basic passes.

I think that's the type of player Baldwin could become. I wouldn't call it a floor. A lot depends on who he's playing next too.

Furkan Korkmaz is working out in Denver today. Denver has the 15th pick. It's not clear that Korkmaz would come over to the NBA this year. He may stay in Europe and take over Dario Saric's role on the Euro club Anadolu Efes. Korkmaz shot 40% on 3s in Europe this season as an 18 year-old.

Not right. It sucks to hear every week something new but his original quote after the workout was (translated to english):

"After the draft i want to join immediately to the nba because i think its easier to develop here (america) than in europe"

In addition to doing a workout in New York, Korkmaz will have worked out for Chicago, Denver and Boston, teams picking 14 - 16. I still like him for the Jazz and think he'll be a legit shooting wing with decent IQ and offensive versatility. Physically, he may stay fairly skinny (think slightly taller Ricky Rubio), but he's a good enough athlete to play at NBA speed.

Agree. Good chance he will probably see some time in D-League to develop. Also if are the NBA team do you really want to risk the Euro player getting a big contract and then having to wait at least 3 years before he comes over? Then you will have to give him a nice contract in order to get the player over. I know this year Sixers and Suns trying hard to get Saric and Bogdanovic over before they are eligible for the big bucks.

Baldwin, D. Murray and Valentine all worked out against each other in Milwaukee Friday. Baldwin is a possibility at 10 for the Bucks who would have him play off the ball next to Giannis and guard PGs defensively. The Bucks also worked out Thon Maker Friday along with other high-energy bigs like Diallo and Onuaku. Media chatter in Milwaukee is that Skal isn't really being looked at for #10. The Bucks didn't interview him or work him out. The Bucks have interviewed Deyonta Davis, but haven't worked him out. Expect the Bucks to take Poeltl, Davis or Baldwin, with Ellenson as a darkhorse.

Murray, Korkmaz and Richardson all have upside in the backcourt for different reasons. Murray is probably the riskiest of the three. The Jazz should have their pick of those three if they stay at 12. Some scouts are comparing Thon Maker to Tyson Chandler, seeing his position as ultimately at the 5 with his defensive potential translating over to the pros.

The following 16 players are being invited to the green room for the NBA draft, per Marc Spears.

Dragan Bender, Maccabi Tel Aviv
Jaylen Brown, Cal
Marquese Chriss, Washington
Deyonta Davis, Michigan State
Kris Dunn, Providence
Henry Ellenson, Marquette
Buddy Hield, Oklahoma
Brandon Ingram, Duke
Skal Labissiere, Kentucky
Dejounte Murray, Washington
Jamal Murray, Kentucky
Jakob Poeltl, Utah
Malachi Richardson, Syracuse
Domantas Sabonis, Gonzaga
Ben Simmons, LSU

Chad Ford has us taking Poeltl in his latest mock draft...

The Jazz don't have any immediate needs. Whomever lands here will struggle to find minutes on a loaded roster. This is an exercise in taking the best player available.

There are a lot of options here and I think it may be tough to pass on Henry Ellenson if he's on the board. But Poeltl's ability to help right now at a key position probably gives him the slight edge. Wade Baldwin, Furkan Korkmaz and Labissiere (if available) are other real options here.
