Following potential 2012 draftees

14/7 > 11/5

He's a better shooter, and he's younger. If you don't like Lowry, who do you think we should be going after?

Think about the systems they are in. Utah runs a lot of post up stuff, which is counter productive to high assist #'s for PG's. Also consider Harris had a few months of putrid productivity relative to his skill level.

Not saying Lowry isn't better, but it probably isn't by much.

Also, Lowry played 5 more minutes per game than Harris did.

When did Holiday enter the discussion? He is not nearly as attainable as Dragic or Lowry are.

As mentioned by others, Philly seems like a possibility for the 'other' team, so maybe Holiday is our target.

I think earlier someone mentioned the jazz hoping to make a trade to acquire a 15-17 pick from either Houston, Philly, or Dallas. And then someone else mentioned KOC's chummy relationship with Philly and so if KOC wants a PG Holiday enters the discussion. There was other stuff too about the Jazz not being high on Marshall or Lillard, and how they want to acquire a PG via trade etc. There was also stuff about how much Harris sucks and Jefferson sucks and recurrent debates about the potential suckage of a number of prospects - Bradley Beal, MKG, Sullinger, Barnes, Lamb - to name a few. Also discussed was what to do if PJ3 falls to us at 8 but that was abandoned after Golden States won the coin flip and many did a round of their best chicken little impersonations. Mixed into the discussion here and there was some general ****ting on Bluesrocker and the perfunctory ignoring of CarolinaJazz. I may have missed a few things but that's pretty much how we got here.

I'm not doing this again. We're not even to the 7000th post yet.

Because of Holiday's age I just don't think he is attainable to what the Jazz are willing to give up.

No one.

Harris was 18th in the league in assists per 48 and 17th in A/TO ratio. That's not bad by any means.

Lowry had 9.86 assists per 48 (12th in the league) but just a 2.36 A:TO (bad for only 32nd in the league), was 40.9% from the field (way worse than Harris 44.5%) and was 37.4% ( a little better than Harris' 36.2%) from three with 4.6 rebounds and 1.6 steals. The latter two were both much better though our rebounding studs don't help Harris' numbers there. In any case, Lowry is a worse shooter, turns the ball over more, and has marginally better assists numbers. To me, he's not really an upgrade and to pay him 26M over 4 years or something is not only unwise as far as our books go right now, but also stupid going forward in that it would prohibit us from signing someone who truly helps a year or two later. A true difference maker. It's also silly from a roster perspective in that we at least know what we get with Harris. There's no drama there. He doesn't bitch about getting weak minutes for a starter. He's a decent human being. With Lowry, we might get a shipwreck if things don't go as hoped for all involved. It just doesn't make sense. None of these FA points do.

If we get the GS pick, go after Marshall. If we don't get it, consider someone like Machado in the 2nd round. There's no rush. We're young.

Except that a pass-first PG could bring them along much better than not having one. Otherwise, I agree.

I question Harris' desire. I don't think it wants it badly enough.

I haven't seen much of Lowry, but that dude has the scent of a killah. Add that to his numbers (he's fairly efficient, still) + his age.

If you can get him for Al, then you also save a ton of money next year and can add other pieces. Plus, getting rid of Al is, in itself, addition by subtraction. It might not be that simple, but if it is, then you have to do this.

This.

I don't really get a "I make my teammates better" feel from Dragic or Holiday. I do a bit from Lowry, so I would probably take him out of that group.

I think Lowry is the best fit. Holiday is a good player, but I'm not high on him as a pg. As for Dragic vs. Lowry, both can pass and shoot, but Lowry is stronger more athletic, and a better defender.

I get what you mean. Though, Holiday might have the highest ceiling of the three. He's also already the best defender, and I'm a sucker for defense.

One thing about Holiday, he does play on a team with 2 other players who are PG's that aren't actual PG's (Turner and Iggy).
