Following potential 2012 draftees

Not sure about that. (but likely true)

If the Jazz feel they've found a 'find' around 15'ish .. then it could very well be bpa, no?

I would think that if you're trading for a draft pick, you're going for someone you really like and need.
Kind of like what Spurs did with Kawhi Leonard.

Our guesses so far are:
Quincy Miller (nbadraft has him at 30, DX has him 18)
Moultrie (He's a PF, though)
Terence Jones (My guess, PKM says plan b or c)
Terence Ross
Austin Rivers
Royce White

Good list, for sure. I may know more tomorrow ..

So, I think PKM is the expert in this thread, isn't he? I've questions for him and of course everyone who follows the draft class of this year.

Among the guys which the Jazz can get at, who is the,

1) Best shooter,
2) Best slasher,
3) Best distributor,
4) Best defender,
5) Best physically,
6) Best potentially,

Thanks in advance for all answers, I didn't have a chance to follow the draft prospects this year.

I think Royce is a guaranteed 1st rounder. A good team would love a player like him. His coach is probably talking him up to every team, and Royce is quite talented to boot. His passing and ball-handing skills don't normally belong to person his speed and build.

Can he hit the 3? I watched a game or two and I don't think I saw him take a shot outside of 15 feet. Just because he is big and can dribble doesn't mean a whole lot to me. He needs to be able to knock down a jumper or NBA defenders will just lag off of him, he's not quick enough to get by and NBA defender who knows he can't shoot. He's not Rondo or Parker.

I'd like to cross off post players from our 'potential target list' based on the fact that the Jazz were unwilling to trade Millsap, if what PKM said is true. My thought process is that if we were so high on a post player, why wouldn't we be willing to trade Millsap to acquire him since Favors and Kanter are clearly our future? Just a thought.

This most likely leaves us with:

Austin Rivers (though, PKM said he heard it's not a SG)
Quincy Miller
Terrence Jones
Terrence Ross
Jeff Taylor
Tony Wroten
Royce White

The second piece of information that we have is that we're going for a pick around #15, meaning the Jazz believe their guy will be available after the lottery. In other words, if we were in love with a prospect and were willing to trade for a pick, why would we trade for a pick that is below where that player is expected to be available? We seem very confident that this prospect will fall to 15, which makes me believe it's not Terrence Jones. At least, he seems like the least likely to fall that low of the players I listed, so lets cross him off the list.

And I suppose we can cross Rivers off the list, assuming the Jazz view him as a SG more than a PG.

Next, if I really had to guess, I'd cross Ross and Wroten off the list. They both seem to have low BBIQ's--something I believe KOC values more than most.

This leaves us with:

Quincy Miller
Royce White
Jeff Taylor

Again, we have to keep in mind that we're aiming for a 15ish pick, meaning not only do we expect this player to fall outside of the lottery, but we probably don't think he'll be available much later than that. To me, that suggests Quincy Miller. I'm not sure many mocks have White or Taylor going ahead of Miller; it seems like they could easily fall to 20, IMO, but I have a harder time seeing Miller fall that far. So why would we be trying so hard to get a pick at 15, if the player could be had a little lower than that?

Although, Miller kinda seems like the least "Jazz like player" to me of those three, so who knows. This is all just major speculation by me, but I'd probably put those three at the top of my list of guesses, based on the rumors we are hearing from PKM.

Edit: PKM also believes it's a SF, and all three of those players (Miller, White, Taylor) could be said to be SF's. These are definitely my guesses.

No, I meant SF. Someone mentioned Moultrie, iirc, and I replied that I would be surprised because I think we're looking for a SF or at least not a pure PF.

For some reason I thought you said "we are NOT looking for a SF." My bad.

I would think Miller is the target if it's a SF in that range as well. Only guy left at that point with elite upside, IMO.
