Following potential 2012 draftees

Good find. This is why I have been less than optimistic about the Jazz finding a 1st rounder .. not a need with a young/talented team with a 'zillion dollars' in cap space.

Hmm if the late firsts are available I wonder if would be interested in players like:

Tyshawn Taylor
Royce White
Jeff Taylor
Orlando Johnson
Darius Miller

If we don't have to give up much I wouldn't mind taking a chance on Miller or Tyshawn Taylor.

Though I would much prefer to trade into the Lottery. Lillard and Marshall are far superior talents.

Did we read the same article? I posted this because it seems very likely that the Jazz could get a 1st rounder if they want one.

Sorry, too much interpolating .. yes, I see that .. but I also see that like a lot of other teams, the Jazz may not want a pick ..

The jazz have what, 10 guys under contract for the next year. So grabbing rookies to take over the slots of CJ Miles, Josh Howard, and Blake Ahearn doesn't see too bad. Mid-late round guys don't make that much, do they?
I mean if there's someone the Jazz want to take a chance on - at worst he's taking Miles' spot on the bench.

This.

The article mentioned proven talent. I can see people approaching the Jazz asking for some players that are proven that are expiring. Bell, Harris, Millsap, Jefferson could all help someone.

Just have to be very careful not to mess with the 'core' guys and the ability to add real punch FA's with the cap space.

Actually I think the jazz do want a pick. Financially the jazz are good. The team is not ready to compete just yet. In 2 years they will be major contenders. The basis of the article competing teams would rather not wait on developing talent where as the jazz can. Get some talent to develope make a splash in free agency in 2013 and they're suddenly contenders.

The logic of the article states the jazz should grab one of these picks. Also the names you have thrown out the jazz seem to be interested in are players that should be able come in and compete right now. Like Jeff Taylor and Darius miller. I could see the jazz grab a college junior or senior in the late first.

Yes, but how much are they willing to give up to get a 1st? We are set at the 2, the 4 and 5. We need a 1 and 3. We need shooters and a LEADER (totally).

Are we more likely to get our needs through the draft (giving up assets) or through FA? Not an easy answer, I think.
