Following potential 2012 draftees

Are the UK boys going to participate in the athletic and measurement testing at the combine?

I want to believe you about Miller being an elite athlete, but I never really saw anything from him that would make me think that. He seems to be about as athletic as Harrison Barnes for the most part.

Yikes. Yes, Miller, Teague, Jones, and Lamb are definites and Davis / MKG have said they're going to as well.

Me not wanting to draft Miller in the 1st isn't really a knock against him more as it is I think there are more talented players (potentially) available. I wouldn't be irate with anger if we took over Royce White, etc. I would just be disappointed.

I have ignored 1st round conversation completely. I am just 'sure' he's a 32/33 guy .. and really like him there.

I don't see what the problem with Miller not wanting to be "the man" is. Granted, on some teams where that might be needed, it is a negative, and it might prevent him from ever being an allstar. The reason so many players don't pan out in the NBA is they don't know how to not be "the man". Some players are not as good at being role players. If you draft someone in the late first round, you are just happy if he ends up making any contribution.

The Jazz have 4 players that are under 22 that were drafted in the top 11 to potentially be "the man". I see Miller, or whoever is drafted this year, as being a role player, 4th-5th option starter or 6th man. Why is it a problem that the Jazz draft a player who's biggest "weakness" might actually be exactly what the Jazz need?

Now if there is a player that would be better in this role, I don't know. But it seems ridiculous to me that the reason you don't want to draft a future role player is that he is too much of a role player.

This is a way homer vid .. but it shows a bit that others don't.

A couple random things from the past couple pages.

- I never knew we were discussing DMiller in the 1st. I've always preached a value pick in the 33/35 range.
- Stoked is right. Miller's only knock is his willingness to play a supporting role. He is anything but lazy, but has no killer instinct. If he had that, he'd be lottery.
- I hate Tony Wroten.

You could say that this is Hayward's problem.

I think I could get totally on board with Miller. I really like his efficiency (though question a bit whether its partly from being surrounded by good players). Having someone who can efficiently hit shots would be such an improvement over CJ, Howard, and even Carroll. He seems to be a very good complementary player and I agree that's good value at end of first round, especially given what we already have on the Jazz. The gamble is whether he will up his game enough to fit in well at the NBA level. Seems to have the potential.

Back to MKG. This Kidd is not only a frosh, but one of the youngest of them all. Doing it all right here.

Back to Miller.

Last year he was needed more than this year. (trust me or look up the rosters, lol)

Last year he averaged more points, rebounds (by a lot), triple the blocked shots. This year he shot the perimeter shots, played perimeter D, and upped his assists. He does what's needed.

Lol. Look, I'll try to explain this slowly. Shawn Marion has a really weird shot, but the release point is the generally always the same. Regardless, most of his scoring was done by using his elite athleticism and shooting wide open jumpers. Barbosa also used his elite speed to do most of his scoring. The problem with MKG is his release point, which is different on almost every shot because he double clutches. I'm not acting like he won't be able to score, but if you think he's ever going to score 18 ppg then you're in for a pretty big shock. I've already detailed the reasons why he won't ever be an average scorer in the NBA, but hell...I'll lay down a bet.

If MKG ever averaged 18/7/4/2, I'll pay you $500. You don't even need to offer me anything, that's how positive I am that he will never have a season like that.

Look, Just because I don't agree with you, doesn't mean you have to be condescending. You may or may not be right. Time will tell. You can keep your $500, I don't need it. Just a thought- AK can average 16.5 pts. 8.1 rebounds, 3.1 steals, 4.3 assists and 2.8 blocks in a NBA season but you don't think MKG can come close to that impact.

The numbers I threw out their are certainly a possibility but they are dependent upon what his role is and what team drafts him. If he goes to the Bobcats I certainly can see him putting up those type of numbers. If he goes to Washington then he might struggle with getting his shots.

I kinda had to laugh at that video, at least half of it is his plays getting rewinded and played again haha.

I did like the song though.
