Following potential 2012 draftees

I'm a little confused by the definition of a stretch 4 vs. a 3 man. One day it seems like we're complaining about how hayward is actually a 2 because he doesn't have the size to play the 3. Then the next day, we're discounting a bunch of solid players in this upcoming draft that have essentially exactly the traits that we feel like hayward lacks to play the 3 because they are "stretch 4's".

Well Jazzfanz, WHICH ONE IS IT????? :)
 
I'd draft White if we end up getting 2 lotto picks. I'd take him with our pick and hope he can develop his jump shot, seems like he could end up being a good Point-Forward.
 
A stretch 4, imo, is a term used to describe a 3/4 tweener that is slightly more PF than SF and can shoot the ball at least fairly well.

Hayward is irrelevant because there's a big difference between a tweener 2/3 and tweener 3/4. I still think Hayward is a SF .. but it's really about matchups.

I would say stretch 4's can't handle the ball well enough, can't move their feet laterally as well.

Just curious if you caught the UK game? He was very impressive. Incidentally, he had verballed to play for UK and then decided to stay closer to home (I'll spare everyone the details .. another story for another day).

I think Hayward is invisible at the 3 and much more impressive at the 2.

Didn't watch the game, but I know his story. DX has a nice write up on him. It seems like he has gotten his mind right since then though.

I could see White and Hayward as interchangeable as a point forward. White could be a beast off the bench. I could see him being very physical with the bigger SF's in the league. He is a safe pick in the late lottery.
 
I would say a White/Lillard draft would be pretty exciting. Both could bust, but if they both panned out would add huge dimensions to the Jazz.
 
Alright those were actually really great definitions of the stretch 4. That said, I don't think we should over-think it. Best player available all the way.
