What's new

Following potential 2012 draftees

As I watched the game, I couldn't help but noticed that it seemed Miller's teammates just didn't want to pass him the ball. Not sure if it's because they see him as a ballhog, or he makes bad decisions, or just my imagination ..

EDIT: Incidentally, Miller wanted to play for UK. Calipari went and watched him twice. The 2nd time, Cal left the gym in the first half and when asked why he did, he said he wasn't interested in 'me first' players. That was 3 years ago, but I still find it interesting.

I noticed the same thing. It's like they're making a point of ignoring him. Maybe he's a dick or something. Maybe he sleeps with his teammate's girlfriends and they're getting even by pretending he's not there. But as far as being selfish I see him pass the ball plenty - at the top of the key. I really don't know what to make of him, which sucks 'cause he might be the best SF prospect in the Jazz' range. Although he may be falling near second round territory.

I don't see Miller as a selfish player. It is his teammates who seem selfish. Miller needs to get stronger. He gets pushed around when he takes it to the rim. Acy and Jackson and Heslip seem to hog the ball. It will be interesting to see if Miller and Jones step it up against better competition. I don't see UK losing unless they don't shoot well. Baylor has to play an entire game like they did in the first 10 minutes of the Xavier game to have a chance. I am going to watch it and do some scouting. MKG stepped up big time which I didn't want him to do because he had struggled in the tournament and I thought if he continued to do so he might drop a bit. I like him over Barnes and Miller even though he is a worse shooter. He can get to the rim, rebounds like a PF, and you never have to worry about his effort. I think he will improve his game when he gets to the pros. Unfortunately, the Jazz have zero shot of getting him with the GS pick and it looks like they won't have their own pick.

I am glad to hear that both MKG and Rivers are entering the draft. There were some reports that both were going back to school. When you pick at the end or middle of the lottery, it helps when all the guys above remain in the draft. I am just hoping the Jazz get the GS pick.

The Jazz will be present for the UK vs. Baylor game. I'm curious to see whether they're scouting the lottery or the 2nd round .. likely both, I'm sure.

Pretty sure it has more to do with the fact that it's not terribly common to be able to see a game that is mostly comprised of potential NBA players on both teams. It's just an efficient and good opportunity.

Certainly true. I guess I'll just be interested to see if there's anyone in particular they're watching. MKG vs. QMiller will be a good matchup, as will Davis vs. PJ3, and Teague vs. Jackson.

Just speculating, but is it possible he is a bad locker room personality.

PKM, what do you think of Walker? I know he's only 5-8 but could he be an option for the jazz in the second round? Thomas has worked great for the Kings this year. What do you think?

It was no surprise, to me, to see Thomas doing well in the NBA. He was an occassional 50+ point scorer in HS and was impressive at Washington. Irving Walker doesn't have the 'it' of Thomas. I don't see Walker as even a back-up. The one that did surprise he had to head overseas is Devan Downey. I thought he would be a VERY good backup .. I think he just never got an adequate shot.
