Following potential 2012 draftees

I think KOC sees the future of Favors. I think he knows that he needs to see Favors in two years of a starting role to see what he has when it comes time to re-sign or extend him. That can really only be done two ways, either trading Sap or Jefferson, or permanently moving Sap to SF.

Exactly. The question, though, is when he plans to go through with a trade, or if he's just going to let Jefferson's contract expire after next season before allowing Favors to start. But hopefully the right trade presents itself this summer (preferably one that gets us a lottery pick).

My biggest fear is that the Jazz have one good series in the playoffs and suddenly Jefferson and Millsap are extended. I am pro Millsap (for the right money) and I am anti Jefferson (for any amount). They have done a great job of getting the "core" to where they are now but by the start of next season they could seriously hinder the progress.

Agree with all of this. This summer seems like the ideal time to make a Jefferson trade, IMO.

Tryus Thomas has all the physical ability but the main reason is he doesn't have the mentality to be a great player. He hasn't worked on his game nor is his BBIQ that high. Great players have the "it" factor regardless of the physical abilities or lack of physical abilities.

There is talk about the Jazz trading for a first round pick this year. The question is this, Who would trade their first round pick, and what would we need to give up?

The Jazz have a lot of pieces, including future picks. Not even considering picks, Harris, Milsap, and Jefferson are the most obvious possibilities. Our young guys are also possibilities (Kanter and Burks would be the only 2 options for KOC, not that I'm advocating to trade either of them).

So.... What is each player worth, and what team would want them? Would we need to give up a young player to get a team to bite?

Also, do Harris and Jefferson offer more to a team as a future player or as an expiring contract? In other words, will we have to take back a player salary for 2+ years to get a pick for either? This, imo, isn't a bad thing, as long as the player is only 2 years. We have at least that until we need to sign our young players.

Both Portland and Nola have 2 lottery picks so if the jazz want a lotto pick those would be the teams to approach. Just something to throw out off the top of my head but Harris, the gsw pick and a second might nab us one of their second lottos both teams need a pg and Portland tried to get Harris last year.

I thought the same thing, although I wonder if it would be enough. I also thought they might give up their first for Milsap. NO could use a PF, and Portland already tride to get Milsap.

I think the Jazz would trade Harris. He's a big salary and a starting-caliber PG. If he's not the right fit, then he should be traded. He's starting to play well, but the Jazz need to decide if he's in the bigger picture.

I think Jefferson can land us Milwaukee's late-loto pick this year (in addition to something else).

I would be shocked if Favors weren't a regular starter next year.... via one way or another.

The only trade that works is Jefferson for Gooden and (Livingston or Dunleavy). Dunleavy and Livingston both expire in 2013, but we would have Gooden's crap contract for 3 years. I think Jefferson is worth more than 1 **** contract and a late lottery pick. A 3rd team would have to be brought in, but who wants any of Milwaukee's players?

I would also throw Houston into that mix. McHale is in love with Jefferson and his post game. Outside of Scola the Rockets don't have any regular low post scoring. They are the opposite of the Jazz when it comes to scoring. They are PG and Wing heavy, and they account for a huge percentage of their points every game. I also don't think that Houston is interested in trying to start all over. They need a playoff appearance this year or next year.
