Following potential 2012 draftees

I somehow feel bad for the kid. He was mishandled/parented/advised since he was 14 years old. I blame those people for the 'man' he has become vs. the man he could have become. Sad, really. So much talent, so poor guidance.

Thing is talented big guys like Sidney get chance after chance. If ever figures it out he will get a big time payday.

IMO Machado is going to be huge bust. I doubt he can guard anyone in the league. I doubt he can get into the paint against anyone in the league. I doubt he will be able to score the ball. So that is basically 3/4 of a point guards responsibility.

For example if BYU can press you for a whole half, you are not an NBA level PG. (And I am BYU fan.)

Can a late 2nd rounder ever be considered a "big bust"?

That's what I was thinking as well. No one is saying he's going to be great .. therefore, not much room to disappoint.

I don't see him every playing in the league. He might be drafted and sit on someone's bench. It is more likely that is undrafted and cut in someone's training camp.

Too bad Lillard is sliding up the mocks... My dream was to use Al or Harris as the main piece (with other things included) to get him, which seems more and more unlikely. It would have been awesome to snag him, then have another shot at a top 10 pick next year.

It's all coming down to the free agent haul of '13... KOC better pull of something that summer because the idea of bringing everybody back for another year is making my sphincter pucker.

I - like most people at this stage - prefer Lillard to Marshall, but let's not pretend that getting Marshall wouldn't be a very good thing. To jettison Al and get either would be a god damn dream come true.

very true. In fact, at one stage, I wanted Marshall over Lillard.

That is my biggest problem in anyone talking about Machado. None of us have seen him play, so I don't think anyone really knows enough to say what he will or won't be.

I only saw the Iona pre-tourney game against BYU, where BYU came back huge in the second half. Scott Machado is really quick and a sharp ball distributor. He looked a bit like a Ty Lawson type, but he doesn't have that level of offense. I think he may be more of a back-up, change-of-pace type.

Only question about him that matters: Can he do a Jr. Jazz camp in Kanab in August?

1 game. You can't really judge a player off of 1 game. I think the safe prediction is that his ceiling is back-up PG, but I don't think anyone really has a great idea. Look at how much he improved his junior to senior year, maybe he is capable of getting even better?
