Pros
Terrific ball-handler (ball's on a string)
Very fast
Explosive first step
Good defender
Confidence
Strong
Cons
Doesn't seem to be very cerebral
Not a good shot (hitch)
He will be good, but not great, imo. I think a decent comp is Bledsoe.
Great points but I don't think he is athletic as Bledsoe.
My take on filling the sf spot.
If we some how traded up and Barnes was avail he would be my first choice. He tested a lot more athletic then was thought. In an offense where he doesn't have to be the guy he will shoot a lot better. A flex offense is ideally suited for his game. What Corbin is going to run is a mystery still.
Mo harkless is talented but the kid can't shoot. Needs to develope not what the jazz need.
Royce white have never been a fan. They claim he is a point forward type but he is not a good shooter either. To be perfectly honest for some one that has psychology as a hobby his psychological make up bothers me. I know that the fear of flying can be over come or at leased treated but nba players fly a lot. I see him as a ticking time bomb. I would pass.
Jeff Taylor is exactly what the jazz need. He is ready to play now being a senior. He likes to play defense. He is super athletic 40 inch verticle. He is a decent 3 pt shooter. He also improved ever year in school. He comes from a basketball pedigree. I think he is a lot like Shane battier and you look at what he is doing for Miami. He needs to become a better passer a d slasher and be able to pull up for jumpers but a lot of kids coming out of college need to learn that.
Quincy miller is an enigma. He has all the talent in the world and the size to go along with it but in my opinion hewas hurt in the head with his acl injury. He has regressed from the injury. If the injury has caused him to be tentative then he will never get better. This can also be worked on but I question his work ethics. I understand the fear of injury I have a hard time even watching basketball with out seeing players spraining their ankles. I can't even play any more because of it. I think Quincy is a nice risk in the second round. No guaranteed contract.
Darius miller has been talked about a ton I would take him in the early second maybe as a 28 to 30 pick. He like Taylor is ready now but I don't think he has quite the ceiling of Taylor.
Draymond green I love players that just win. He is a baller. Not a great shot though. He is also more of an undersized 4. There have been some successful players like him in the nba but not a need for the jazz.
Jae crowder his measurements killed him. I now know why he said he wanted to play sg in the nba but he can't shoot. I think him and Carroll are a little redundant. I would not cry with him at47.
Kris Middleton is the last player i will discuss for now even though there are others to discuss. At 47 he might be worth the risk. Not a good shooter and is skinny but there is something about him I like. He could be a Byron Russell type of player. Great mid range game though.
Royce White is a ticking time bomb of awesome. His fear of flying is overstated. He has been flying to and from workouts just fine and teams are raving about his interviews and workouts.
Yes, watched him quite a bit. Really liked his game a lot. Kind of a better (much) shooting AK..
I think his anxiety disorders are more of a feel-good story than real anyway. I'm 50/50 on this guy. I kinda feel that he'll either be a real special player or do nothing at all. Although somewhere in the middle is by far the safe bet.
