Following potential 2014 draftees

Was this draft class so hyped that now it's underrated? People are down on every one of these guys.

I don't get the Randle hate in particular. If he measures close to Kanter's height then he's going to be a handful when he gets some footwork down. He has the athleticism that lacking is Enes' main Achilles heel. If he's there at seven then that's a damn nice take at the spot in any draft.

I think there's zero chance Anderson is there for the GS pick. He's a love-hate prospect in my eyes. Some teams might question his fit/position, but I think some team in the late lotto will fall in love with him and scoop him up.

I must say, I've been underwhelmed by these players are are supposed to save our franchise, or any other franchise who happens to draft them. I'm beginning to conclude that this draft class has been badly overhyped. I mean, Wiggins can't even get off more than 6 shots in the biggest game of the year so far. Really? He's going to make a winner out of a team like Milwaukee? Parker can't carry his team past the first round of the NCAAs. Embiid is already fragile. Randle looks good, but not one to turn around a franchise. And who the hell really knows about Exum?

Am I the only one who thinks these guys may (not for certain) just be a tad bit overhyped?

Basically. The top 7 is as good as it gets, really.

As far as Randle goes, he's more athletic than Kanter, but it's still a concern. And he'll measure close to 6'8 and a quarter inch according to fabtrey.

I watched some of the AZ game. Granted it was already a blowout, but Gordon's game consisted of just trying to set screens for everyone else. I'm probably leaning towards Vonleh in the 6-8 range. I think he'd round out the 4/5 rotation nicely. Under that scenario, I wouldn't advocate re-signing Marvin.

There are some decent wings who will be available with the GS and even our 2nd-round pick.

Even though I'd kill for top 3, I'm still excited that worst case scenario is getting someone like Smart, Gordon, or Randle.

The only way we get screwed is if an unexpected amount of guys return to school.

Smart's shooting form scares me to death. He's got a nasty hitch in his shot and that's a tough thing to fix. I had a bad hitch in Junior High and it took me a ton of hours to fix it. This is what Draftexpress scouting report said about him.

On the downside, Smart still sports a very inconsistent jump-shot, something that didn't really improve from his freshman to sophomore seasons. His shooting mechanics leave a lot to be desired, as he dips the ball violently, and fades forward and sometimes sideways on his release. That wouldn't be that big of an issue if Smart didn't take as many jumpers as he does—nearly half of his field goal attempts came from beyond the arc, and he hit just 30% of them, many being contested ones early in the shot clock.
