BTP's scenario makes sense to me. It's a team sport. So it's not actually possible to track correctly how a player does individually on the court - that's why you'll need scouts attending games or study film. Can't just rely on stats.

And you want to single out players for their defense............

Everyone knows Harden sucks on D, it's one of the main reasons why Houston isn't considered a huge threat to win it all. Pacer's considered a threat because they can play defense. If the Rockets had Paul George instead of Harden, they would be a legit contender.

I disagree. I think Houston would be worse with George instead of Harden.

I disagree. I think Houston would be worse with George instead of Harden.

I agree with Lazy. George is not yet a legit first option on offense.

Problem for Houston is that Parsons is not a good defender either and that's why they can't hide Harden against the less talented wing if the opponent has only one legit high quality wing.

As a Houston fan it would cause me headaches to know that Harden was better defensively with OKC, so it's not like he can't do it, but more like that McHale is either bad or he lost interest in defending once he wasn't behind Durant + Westbrook any more.

I see players play perfect defense and still get scored on by great offensive players all the time.

Paul george is a very good defender but be cant shut down durant, harden, lebron, mellow, etc etc. And even if he was able to, then a team can just use a screen/pick to free the offensive player from the great defensive player
